Getting Locked Out of Social Media Accounts

Hey everyone, I recently switched phone carriers and got a new number. I remembered to update my banking and email accounts, but totally forgot about my social media profiles. Now I can't log into a couple of them because they keep sending verification codes to my old number. Has anyone dealt with this? How difficult is it to recover accounts when you no longer have access to the phone number on file?

Always make sure you have an alternate email set up for recovery! When I changed my number, I lost access to an old account I barely used. The automated systems are strict, and getting a human to help takes time. I’d suggest checking the help centers for each platform.

It can definitely be frustrating. A friend of mine had a similar issue when she moved abroad and had to cancel her local cell plan. She had a lot of trouble getting back into her accounts and spent hours searching for ways to contact support. I remember she was looking for a tiktok phone number while trying to figure out how to update her contact details without being logged in. She eventually found an online form hidden in the help section that allowed her to submit an account recovery request using her email and a photo ID, but it wasn't a quick process.
