PWI is the first professional forum I was interested in participating in. The contractors I've met on here over the years are the cream of the crop. PWI holds a special place in my heart.
That is why I am announcing an important event in our lives first here on PWI.
You guys know I'm politically vocal and active in our local area. I talk a lot about our founding fathers and the amazing job they did at crafting federal law for the greatest nation the earth has seen since the Kingdom of Solomon.
We, as a family, have been looking and praying for ways to serve as our rights dwindle and our country is moving on a path towards bankruptcy and martial law.
A few months ago Shelly began praying earnestly for God to lead us towards filling a need.
A few weeks ago she was approached by some members of the Republican party who asked her if she would consider running for a seat in the Nevada Assembly. The assembly is the House of Representatives for the state of Nevada.
The seat is traditionally Democrat. The last time a Republican won he visited every home in the district and wore out two pairs of boots.
The incumbent is retiring. There are three Democrats who will be fighting against each other in the primaries.
Shelly is unopposed in the primaries. That means she will run against the winner between those three in November.
You guys who know her know that Shelly is a smart woman. You also know she is kind and doesn't have any desire for power or fame. She just wants to serve.
I would have loved for this opportunity to be mine. But God's answer came to her. Not me. Right before she was asked to run she had attended a mid-week church service that challenged her to have no fear and just do what God leads her to do. She committed that night that she would.
Soon after she was asked to run.
She was afraid. She was unsure of herself. But she wants to serve and make a difference. She was hoping her "serving" would be as supporter for me in something like this. But it wasn't.
So she prayed more. Among many other signs leading her to the choice to serve her Iphone (Doug) locked up and kept repeating the a song that confirmed what she needed to do. And she couldn't get it to turn off for about 20 minutes.
Finally, after more prayer, she accepted the position to run. I didn't encourage her to run. I encouraged her to follow whatever she thought God wanted her to do.
She is going to need all of your prayers.
Shelly is not a public speaker. She is not a politician. She is, however, an experienced business owner, a mother, a home school teacher, a missionary, and the best wife in the world.
We talked about Moses, and how God called him. He had a stutter and was unsure of himself, yet he led the greatest liberation of a nation in history.
I am glad she is doing this. The longest we have ever been apart has been when I attended events and extended my stay. Yet, if she wins she might have to be in Carson City (8 hrs away) up to 4 months of each year.
If we can make some changes in Nevada it will be worth it. We can catch up on that lost time in eternity with God and each other.
Anyway, Shelly needs your prayers. This is a difficult thing for her. I have 100% confidence in her. I've seen her a million times go into education mode with her customers and she is awesome. With God's help he will put the words in her mouth because she trusts in him.
We need prayers, and if you live in Nevada we need financial contributions. The retiring Democrat only had to raise a little over $30k last time just to run against other Democrats in the primary. Historically we will probably need four to five times that just to have a chance.
Please pray for Shelly.
