Getting around Ins. Problems

Generally speaking agents don't know sh*t about insurance.

Generally speaking, Justin's right. An agent can say anything, but you're always at the mercy of the underwriter!!

A little tip when buying insurance that can save you alot of money is to have a copy of your "Loss Runs" from companies that have previously insured you. A new carrier wants to know if you've had any claims against you and Loss Runs tell the tale.

If you ask your present company for a copy of your Loss Runs it's a signal to them that you're shopping around, but that's too bad. It's a simple formality for companies to provide you with this very valuable information!!!

I hope new people had a chance to digest Ron P's post above. Here's a guy who knows the ropes and he's struggling - imagine what he'd be facing if he didn't know what to do! This is tough business in a tough economy - hang in there but don't be afraid to bite the bullet. I talked with an oldtimer today a couple states over who threw in the towel after 10 years. You do what you gotta do.

Why Throw the towel ?

Im just curious, why did he throw in the towel, where I live
there is more work than there is contractors, 1 out of every
2-3 homes has wood decks, fences, or vinyl siding needing washing ?

Just Curiuos

Well it's kind of like he'd had enough of the weather, the insurance hassles, employees who don't want to work and those who should not be out of jail, the equipment that broke down because it wasn't the employee's fault and so on.... He retired once and went away again. There was plenty of work for someone else! You have youth and exhuberance, some might say - first fervour - He had experience and discouragement - he was burnt out! There's no harm in recognizing the time to move on.
