Ron,

I've read lots of your posts and you seem like just the knowledgeable, opinionated, argumentative professional that we look for to help us improve our product. I know you use Hannay, but we have made many improvements to our product in the last 5 years or so. We have some new to the market products and some prototype concepts driven by others like you. Since you are so close it would be great to meet, have you talk to the design engineers, and see what you think. call me anytime, here is the correct number 480-820-6396 x 143, also my cell is 602-___-5410.

Lunch included, your choice.

I Think I will Take old Steve up on his idea. what do you guys think?

Sounds like a great idea. Worst that could happen is you get a free lunch and help Cox make even better reels

I'd go and talk to the. Tell them they just need to make a great reel. Good coatings that wont fail with harsh chems or alum. I f they want a couple different lines of product like the basic economy & a high grade contractors model. I will pay for what ever is good and they have to market it to contractors where contractors are like these BB's

I have a set of Titan that I love, I've recomended Titan to a lot of people, well I have 4 new ones I bought with in the last 6 months and I dont like them at all. Many problems with them, they arent built or assembled like they used to be. The tensioners fall apart, they have rubber thats weak, the pins just barely reach the holes and many of the bends in the alum get hair line cracks (right out of the box)and I had one completly tear. These werent cheap$$$ reels, they're the 22" alum and 3 out 4 have had issues, thats just wrong

If Cox can come up with a great reel and prove it, it will only be a plus for them.

Go tell them what you know and like and enjoy lunch

Manufacturers need to listen to contractors versus accountants. This is where most of them go wrong. They try to streamline the proccess to affect the bottom line instead of making a better product and marketing it to folks that will pay the for the added value.

It's good that they want Rons input because with his volume and real world experience, he can give proper input.

Thanks, I have done this in the past just not with cox. He knew i like Hannay from the posts. I would try anything once, he said they improved so what the heck. Maybe Scotty will come with.

I would like to try one first.

I like my cox reel
but i could improve the heck out of it if I had the chance

All of my reels are cox, and I like them. I do wish the pins were longer, and I do wish the swivels were higher quality. I usually have to replace the swivels within 6 months, and water should not do that.

I run a bunch of cox reels on my rigs. I wish they made more stainless, maybe even some aluminum reels.

I have 2 Cox reelsone barely hanging on and the other has gone to the big scrap yard in the sky.
The plastic brake strap break quickly,The locking pins are to short and need to make out fo larger round stock. The lock pins break.

And last,but not least......

The coating on my 2 failed inside of 6 months. At $200 a swing I had higher expectations.

We have 1 cox reel and would not buy another at this point....I could make some good suggestions

I have 2 coxreels and 2 rapid reels i like the cox reels better becuz its easier to wind the 200' of pw hose. but i rhino lined them all with line-X and they are still good. I also made the pin longer and holes wider to compensate for the line-x, but the swivel is starting to leak again. i might upgrade to a super swivel but im iffy. havent rusted too bad considering i live right next to the beach.and one is about 4years old. and at $200 a pop not bad just buy a new one. Ron u should show them the posts on here and make "the PW series" hose reel

You would think that they would visit these bbs's and see what people are commenting about their product and make the changes to make them better, I know if I sold hose reels I would do that.

Or better yet, Have Ron talk to the people at Hannay and have a Round Table special so that at least 20 or 50 people that attend can get a hose reel like the kind that Ron uses for a special Round Table Attendee price but at least 20 or more people need to purchase to get the special price.

Those Hannay reels are very good, I have one that is electric, I plan on getting some of the regular kind.
