Free Contractor Marketing Package!

I thought about posting names for about two seconds, then I realized I'd be posting my customer list! I have a few customers who have more than one entry in the drawing, which is really nice.

A great customer of ours won the package in the drawing, Doug, but I didn't post about it because the contractor asked if he could substitute a store credit instead of the prize offered. He is an established contractor in Michigan and he just didn't believe he needed any marketing help. Of course we complied with his wishes, but this is always a little embarrassing.

As the first company to give away hot water skids and a lot of other cool big prizes, I have searched for the exact right Grand Prize that tickles all of our customers. So far, I just haven't come across the perfect item. It smarts a little to see a brand new hot water skid that cost us thousands end up on Craigslist a week later. We are always looking for ideas that will help us grow our sales and help our customers grow their businesses, and we have been pretty creative in the process. No other supply company has offered anything like this marketing package, for example.

Do contractors like promotions like this? There are so many different ways we can promote Sun Brite Supply, and big prizes are just one of them. It would be great to know the answer to that question.

We are willing to do this promotion again, offer something completely different, or not offer any promotion prize for a while. As you probably realize, promotions like this eat a big hole in our marketing budget line and sometimes that money is better spent in other ways. How about some feedback from the PWI community?

I have seen this happen several times throughout the years, someone that is new to the business or is in a different line of work winning a hot water skid, surface cleaners, water fed poles, etc....... turn around and sell the unit when someone that really could have used the unit, if won it, could be helping their business grow and feeding their families and maybe going on vacations.

It is really a shame seeing people win these things and turn around and sell them when people could really use them in their business if they would have won.

Maybe smaller prizes more often would be a good idea? Maybe weekly or monthly prizes would generate more visits to the store or more traffic there.

Here is another idea, a little bit different.

What about each month have a giveaway for a plane ticket to one of the events that will be coming up in the next year.

That is the biggest expense for those that travel as hotel rooms are affordable.

When you think about it, it can easily cost about $1000 to attend an event and the biggest part is the plane ticket, then the rooms, meals and then souvenirs.

Just another idea.

I for one think that it is awesome that you allowed this guy to take a store credit. Not a lot if vendors would do that and you have nothing to be embarrassed about. You worked out something that was best for your customer and for that I applaud you. Well done Pete, well done.

Hey Pete I bought my first Deckster from you and also bought a used Deckster a year later from a Guy who purchased it from you as well. Those Decksters were gold in my pockets.

I wish we won your marketing prize contest. I find myself on the other end with giving out prizes but yours we could have surely used. Can't get enough Marketing help as it is.

You always been a deeply committed class guy and Company. I hope to see you at the PWNA Convention once again.

Also I think Chris's idea about giving away a small monthly prize keeps people aware of these things because of the continuous prize give-a-ways. You just never know until you try something and it works. Good luck.

Don't forget to say hello to Linda and Andy. They can't get enough of the camaraderie us Powerwashing guys & gals have when together. The one thing that I can say that this industry is very strong at is when you get a bunch of Powerwashers whether it be contractors, distributors etc together the thoughtfulness runs deep. If they can only keep it like that when the get together ends. That's one of my long term goals is to figure out how to keep people together but not thru a Union mindset.
Anyway cya there. I'll be taking the Certification classes on Tuesday.
