found this craigslist ad for a trailer for sale.. just went to take a look at it......

http://orlando.craigslist.org/for/4545922400.html

motor has ~400 hrs per owner, and burner shows 28 hrs on meter.

the water tank and calcium (?) build up and clumps of stuff on the bottom. i checked the inline filter to see if it was caked up, it was clean. the key to the motor is broke and has to be turned with a flat head, however started right up. Oil was clean and asked if they had just changed it, said yes. (sketchy)... condition of burner is UNKNOWN. switch to turn on was broken.

while i ran the motor, there was water trickling out the front where the pull chord/fan thing is.. never seen that before.......

pump was a comet.

i dunno.. give your thoughts on getting into something like this.. even if i took it in, and got it completely rebuilt.. is it worth it if i beat them up on the price?.. its been hacked up pretty bad.

The first one you can see where the water was truckling out of the motor

Looks beat down to me. Also its not a 2000 gallon tank, it's a 525 at best but maybe a 330 due to the access size. I try to steer clear of equipment that beat and the owner doesn't even know what it is.

ya, that water tank made me lol.

if i can beat them down on price, im wondering if it would be worth it and just have it rebuilt, and new pump.

anyone know the specs on this? its a 20hp. unknown GPM or PSI.

guy, thats exactly what im thinking. the trailer and tanks is really all im buying.. the rig it self is 70% chance of being junk, and the hose, reel, and wands are shot. so i emailed them back and basically said exactly that.

Never count that kohlor out i have em run for along time. When you get it i would replace the pump and what in the world is that yellow paint looking stuff. You can run the hell out of that kohlor for another 2000 hrs then when it blows up you can call him back an complain that it only lasted 4000 hrs lol.

lol.. i sent an email back and gave them a pretty low offer.. i may go back and foreth and see how low i can get them.. if i can snag it with out a major loss if the skid is shot, then im going to do it.

The trailer and tank don't look that good to me. Why start out with a headache. I see great deals come into the shop several times a year. They usually end up with just about the same amount of money in it as a new rig.

If it's that uncared for on the outside heaven knows what it is like on the inside. did you take out the dipstick and have a look at the condition of the oil??? I'd give it a wide berth if it was me.

Great point

Im not a proponent of buying used equipment unless i know where its coming from or from someone reputable

Too many potential headaches dealing with the unknown

For me it just looks unloved. If you have invested that sort of money in something from new would you have looked after it like that I think not. probably never had an oil change in it's life. I would bet there are no service records for it.
