For those that have over 200' on your reels for Power Washing

I know some of you guys have way over 200' on your hose reels but do you use the hydraulic threaded couplers to join the several sections together or regular plug/couplers?

I just put on a hose reel that I had in storage and I have 200' on it and can put another 50' on it.

Just wondering how you guys do this. I know that the threaded coupler might be hard to disconnect later on but the plug/coupler will be a little easier, even if it is seized up.

I know some of you buy 100' or 50' sections and just add on until you get the length you want on the hose reels.

What are your connections you prefer?

I have the threaded end into the reall itself and every one after that is quick connects.I have 250' and sometimes I add another hundred at the last quick connect.I would also say tape the connections and grease them before you do that way they don't get so banged up because they will get really abused dragging them on the ground.

I have no idea why anyone would want to put more than 200' ft of hose on a reel? I do alot of commercial and have never needed more than 150' if i need more i add it.

The only time i have to add more hose is on resedential jobs to reach around back of the house, if there set back on the property? With commercial i simply move the rig up when i run out of line? Also i use no couplers on my lines it's a straight 150' ft line then add as needed.
 
I've got 200-250 on each reel. All are 50footers and connected with qc's. If a hose blows it's nice not to be losing 100 ft at a time and I can keep on working after I take out the bad section. That actually just happened to me 2 days ago.

Hey Larry do you use 4500 psi double braided line? I go at least a year at a time without a burst, some of my line on my reel now are bare at spots from dragging on the concrete, and still going strong?
 
No Nick, Mine are single braided and I do a ton of ds'ing. I don't like the weight of the double and the singles are much more flexible/pliable IMO. I normally get at least a yr or more before they blow a hole somewhere. I ha one that lasted me 3yrs that just blew on me about a month ago and it was a double braided. That one was on the reel that I only use when running both machines with a helper. Kinda sucked to lose it cause it was a 100 footer...
 
I had two hundred footers threaded together until one blew. It was a pain to pull them apart on the job site. Now I have qc on them incase they go again I can keep the job going with less down time.
 
I have a single line of 1/2 R-2 at 200 ft . SS Hansen quick connects. If we keep the temp down to 225, our hoses will last up to 2 years sometimes more. We do not by Goodyear, they only lasted 5 months or so. However, we do not run our equipment on a daily basis. Weekend only with a couple of accounts during the week.

We do not buy any Legacy Chinese SS Quick connects. When possible, we buy AMERICAN MADE ! Even though American made is sometimes 3 times as much as the Chinese product, you cannot beat the American Quality.

The Legacy Chinese QC lasted a year at best, the American Made Hansen last 7 years and are still going. Heck, we had one in working condition from 1994 but we took it off because it is an outdated design. Too long to roll up. We use Viton O Rings, they last about 3 months. The O-Rings that are standard last a whopping 50 minutes if the guy is pulling on the hose.... just over a couple of hours if we are lucky.

In 1990, we had a hose burst on us. It burst under the arm at the swivel of the hose connecting to the gun. We had a smooth rubber hose 3/8 at the time on our Delco 6300.

Since we changed over to American Made products, we found the products last longer and end up costing us less in the long run, both in longevity, down time and being hurt on the job. We also do not have any accidents because of the hose or quick connects since we started to buy American back in 1994.


Something to think about when buying a Chinese product.

By the way, My wife is Chinese and I am not ill will to any nationality, I just do not like short cuts in manufacturing the product that could result endangering our guys in order to save a buck.

The chinese have been trying to kill us slowly with lead based product's for years, so Screw the chinese. By the way my wife is Italian and makes a killer Sauce!!!Thats tomato sauce for my pasta on sunday's for you non Italian's..

Meatball's, Pork, Braciole, cooking for 6hours, good Italian bread and Locatelli cheese for the pasta...:eek: I live for Sunday!!;)

Sorry, got family comming in for a few weeks from N.Y. everyone wants to go boating, so no pasta for a few weeks..we will be grilling out :D
