ST-5 and ST-6 ..away from the "stock" setting
Amen Russ !
and I answered the adjustment question above on the ST-6.
That adjustment is about the spring tension, and getting the slider closer to the reed.
Otherwise, the farther you go away from the "stock" setting of the reed alignment,
the less reliable it becomes.. ...............no other adjustment there.
But the ST-5 can be adjusted for low flow..
WE needed a 5.5gpm system to double-as a carpert 'n' tile machine,
with the extra heat at lower-flow.. aprox 2.5 to 3gpm..
We found that a stainless steel screw inserted into the center of the magnetic slider made it reliable.
We did have to replace the slider every 4 or 5 years, but that's so close to the average 5 to 6 years,
..so I'm happy.
This reminds me..
Y'all with the 115 voltAC heaters..
Since pressure-actuated unloaders are SO popular (for price),
and flow (and Pressure) switches directly react to the "leaks"
allowing "re-pressurizatoin" of the sysetm when the trigger-gun is off..
ALWAYS make sure you have a fuel solenoid with a "Delay-On coil"..
They "delay on" 4 to 6 seconds which nicely inhibits the heater from kicking "on",
when flow (or re-pressurization) occurs for a few seconds.
Now,
I thought I could ignore the earlier question, as I don't like to point a finger,
but I realize you are asking a "technology" question..
.................Why are pressure switches dangerously popular ? ?
Y'all buy for price !!!
.....................................:slap::slap:
..EVERY time you ask for "cheap,"
you stimulate a "bean-counter" to offer you something less than "Long-Term-Low Cost"
The MOST important thing to learn out of a recession..
STOP ALL perpetuating mistakes..
Including buying for "price", when you were supposed to show up on time,
and deliver the quality service you promised..
The BEST contracts being written right now, are where the last guy didn't deliver on his promises..
....... ..Equipment issues are "a great influence" on this !
The ONLY way YOU can focus on service, is to be confident in your equipment..
..and the tech that backs-you-up. Eh?
Be STRONG competition,
NOT "Mr. Fix-It" on poorly engineered "for cheap."
Know your local sevice center, his weaknesses and strenghts.
Then call people like me 'n Russ,
for any "2nd opinion".
