"fleet washing" insurance

Bluebliss:

I know J Walters Insurance deals strictly with the pressure washing industry, and they are currently writing policies in Florida. www.jwagency.com is their website. I don't have a phone number for them. Other than that, I have heard that auto owners writes policies for pressure washing under a janitorial category. Someone here has also mentioned progressive.

J. Walters is the only place that would even call me back. Everyone else I have talked has gone something like,

Them: ABC Insurance may we help you?

ME: Yes I need to get a quote on some small business liability insurance.

Them: O.K Sir what type of business would that be you are inquiing about?

Me: A pressure washing Business.

Them:...........................insert long confused pause here................
Sir what is your # and we will gladly call you right back.

Me weeks later waiting for phone to ring.

I am probably going to end up going with J. Walters even though I think the rates are a little high, just becasue he is the only one that called me and I am afraid to write with some one who dosen't have a clue about pressure washing.

I think that is one benefit to going with a company like Walters, there's no question on either side as to the type of work you are doing. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that it is my understanding that they do not write insurance for hood cleaning. I don't know that for a fact, but it was discussed at the Atlanta roundtable meeting this past Saturday. I don't know about you, but I don't plan on doing hoods at first, if ever. There was some discussing at the roundtable about that, and my position on never doing hoods has softened somewhat. There are only two companies in Gainesville doing hoods right now, and we have a LOT of restaurants etc. Who knows.

Hoods are no where in my near future. Before I would even consider it I would want to be well trained under someone else's guidance. I think you are leaving yourself wide open if you do A shoddy/un-expierienced job and the place burns down 2 days later.

I didn't mean to imply that I was going to jump into it unprepared, or even anytime soon. I realize there is a lot to know, and wouldn't even consider doing it without working with someone experienced for a while and taking some training classes. There's too much I imagine could go wrong with a job poorly done.

Hello

I just spoke to Walters today about KEC coverage. Walters is no longer issuing policies for KEC. I was considering adding the service late second quarter and wanted to research total costs. I was able to locate a provider in California (number is out in the truck). I will gladly post it if anybody would like to check them out. Basically, they said coverage for KEC has gone through the roof. They anticipated a final cost of about $5,500/year for the KEC coverage only if you are an owner/operator! Factor that into the cost of a start-up service:>)

Take care everyone

Ron

KEC?

I'm sorry, I'm pretty new to this. What is KEC? And I can't seem to get my hands on J Walters. If anyone can post or e-mail me the contacts on them, I would appreciate it. Just got new equipment that took a life time to get and need the insurance to use it. Thanks all for your suggestions.

I know I have said this in the past and I will say it again, Auto Owners insurance is simply the best for this business. They have much better coverage and price then the aformentioned company.

Been with Auto Owners for many years and have had claims and was promptly taken care of.

Good luck.

Currently I don't have any contacts there. I am working on a deal to insure all pressure washers. I'm working on it but been real busy lately.

Go to Auto Owners and find the nearest agent. In the future I will have something set up.

Blue and anyone else...

Contact Lori Heemstra @ Dornbush Insurance Agency. They are underwriters for Auto Owners that Justin is referring to. I was referred to Lori by Mike Gwas from Able Enterprises. She has a policy specific for our business that can be duplicated. They are located in Hudsonville, MI (just outside Grand Rapids). Her direct line is 616-662-7686.

I got at least 5 quotes and they were the cheapest, with the most amount of coverage!

Thanks again, Mike from Able!!!!!
