Fire Hydrant

I don't care how you get water out of them but don't use a flippin pipe wrench to open them up. We had several hydrants this year that had the stems rounded off and we couldn't flow test them. Chief was not a happy camper. If you were to get caught doing this you might have a hefty bill to replace the stem and nut

edarley.com is a great website. Has all the attachments. I was lucky enough to find a local company that sells everything. Made friends with the owner and now get a little discount. Not all cities or municipalities require a meter either. Some require paperwork only. As for the fire hose, you guys are lucky if you get it from the local FD. I went all thru 2 counties and not one would give up their old hoses. They said state law requires them not to do that anymore.

That's a very important point. Buy a hydrant wrench. The hydrant they can't get open may be in front of your family members house.
