Fan Belts

Gentlemen,

I was called out to a local Arbys restaurant to recharge the kitchen hood fire suppression system after it had discharged.

It turns out the fan belt broke, overheated the exhaust system and melted the fusible link. All of these problems for a $5.00 fan belt!
They probably lost a $1000.00 in revenue, not to mention my bill.

I suggested to the manager that every time they clean the hood they should change out the fan belt.

Sincerely,

Hayden

Anyone heard of a adjustable fan belt, I saw one a while back it is simply 1 inch long interlocking pieces, I assume it comes in a roll. No more guessing sizes.

Most all my customers are pleased that I change the belts for a nominal fee, when I find signs of wear when cleaning their systems. Others have standing orders to change at each cleaning. They know what a inconveience it is to have them break during business hours. The down side is that your the one they call or blame when they have any fan/motor/ belt problems after that. Make sure to check the alignment of belt and pulleys for wear.
