Extra Cold Water Unit?

I was thinking about putting an extra cold water unit on my trailer, just something small so one guy could rinse while the other runs the surface cleaner. Is anyone else doing this? what are your thoughts?
 
I agree, i wasnt really planning on doing heavy cleaning with it, I run a hot water unit but would like something another guy can use just to rinse the dirt and stuff off behind the guy running the surface cleaner, so hes not just standing around. just wanting to know if it would be a waste or if it could save time??
 
I run a gear drive cat unit on one, the other has two belt drive cold units on the back. Not too sure why its a bad idea, we do gum removal and heavy degreasing with hot but surface cleaners get run with cold to save the bearings and swivels.
 
The difference in running hot vs. cold through a surfacer should be apparent. But not because of the swivel or bearings. The quality of clean is way less using cold water. I'd rethink your technique or someone will show up with a stencil:eek:

As for heat and swivel or bearing, never had an issue, but we run Mosmatic swivels on all our surface cleaners. I have read on a BBS somewhere that the brass swivels are not very good. I imagine they expand with the heat, so that could be a problem.

We have an extra cold water unit on our residential rig just for rinsing.

Adam, I have my helper use a cold water portable to clean the parking curbs when I clean the banks, this free me up to actually clean the building and the job gets completed alot faster. Jobs like this work well if you have a portable and the extra help. Hugh
 
i have a portable cold water unit for "just in case". so i can get finished with a job and fix it when i get back to the house..but i do crank it up regualry to rinse as well.. but it's like russ said, it wouldnt hurt to have one. you never know

I run a 20" whirl a way. I havent had a bearing or swivel go out yet but it did start making a whining noise once and I turned off the heat. Anyone know if these whirl a ways have good swivels? If not, where can I get replacement swivels for a good price?
 
I have a cold water unit on mine and sometimes when rinsing, I'll tie the cold water unit to my hoy water unit and will be putting out about 9 gpm. the water will be a little cooler, but it does work.
 
just get a cheap hotbox for it if you really want to put it to use an have the extra help use it for gum removal
