extension wands...

Anyone ever used an extension wand to do upper story of a two-story house? One guy told me he has two that he doesn't use because they are hard to control...Seems to me a ladder isn't very safe or efficient...What's the proven method for tall areas?
Thanks!

extentions wands can be hard to control, why don't you see if you can borrow one of his and see for yourself. One good thing about them, is they can be a great upper body workout.

I agree, Excellent work out, Hard to control...If i had to do over, I would go with x-jet...But than again if i had the x-jet, I would want the extension wand.

Paid 102.00 for 24ft extension wand... Dont have a x-jet

MATTIA,

YOU RIGHT ABOUT THE EXTENTION WAND , FOR A CHEAP X-JET TRY
A IN LINE INJECTOR ON THE END OF YOUR WAND. EL CHEPO TO MAKE.

CLEANED 680 L FT. 8' HIGH , PRE FAB CONCRETE FEANCE WITH ACID TUESDAY WITH IT , I JUST STOOD BACK ABOUT 10 TO 15 FT AND COULD COVER 20 FT OF WALL AT A TIME. TOOK 5 HR OR SO.
I ONLY DID ONE SIDE . I DID IT FOR .0827 CENTS PER SQ FT.

Thanks for the input, guys!
Mattia - you mentioned and in-line injector at the end of my wand, and that it is cheap to make. How do I make one?
Thanks again -

I say go with the real xjet...........nothing better. 1-800-XTERIOR

For an ext wand, I use the "Extend-A-Wand" www.extendawand.com It is superior to any other wand I have used/seen............more steady, and easy to extend/retract. They are pricey but worth every penny.

I wash two story houses all the time from the ground with the extension wand. I apply the cleaners with the xjet and wash with the wand.

what is the difference between an injector and a x-jet ? thats right 30 bucks.

I make my own x-jet or foam cannon. I use a $9.95 non-adjustable, stainless ball ,injector with a coupler, and a 1/4"
male plug and put a 10' x 1/4" polybraid reinforced chemical tubing . put it all together , make sure the arrow on the enjector is pointing the right diretion, put it on the end of your wand.

Regarding the original post I clean 2- 3 story houses at high pressures every day. Normally use extension wands with quick connects. At greater than 14 feet total length I either use a 0 degree tip or, if the surface can't handle it, I pull out a ladder. No luck with extension wands, but I have been trolling this and other boards to see what experience with the Extenda Wand and Corress.

Out of curiosity.......have you ever used an xjet?? I'm betting the answer is no.

NO I HAVE NOT USED AN X-JET OR FOAM CANNON WITCH ARE THE SAME THING!

I CAN MAKE THAT SUPER RICH LATHER FOR EXTENDED DWELL TIME WITH MY HOME MADE ONE, THAT COST LESS THEN $15.

IF YOU WONT TO SPEND $30 FOR THAT BLACK PICE OF PLASTIC, YOU GO RIGHT AHEAD .

HAVE A NICE DAY!

Dude, you don't sound too "Mellow" to me. Ease up on Mike, he's right about the X-Jet. If you don't want to try it that's fine, but it is no reason for a personal attack on him.

Mellow44, I have tried making my own end-of-wand injectors, but have never been able to achieve the dilution performance I require (less than 2:1). Two questions:
1. Exactly what model of injector are you using?
2. What have you tested the uptake rate to be? That is, what gpm are you running on your machine, and what is your chemical uptake rate, in gallons per minute.

Since I spray acids, besides the good uptake rate, the other reason I like the X Jet is that it is stainless steel.

Thanks, and ease up a bit. You'll live longer.

BILL 3752,

I USE THE ALLISON NON-ADJUSTABLE STAINLESS STEEL BALL INJECTOR.

MY WASHER IS 5.6 GPM AT 3,500 PSI THE DRAW RATE IS 23%.

THE INJECTORS HAVE A ZERO DEGREE NOZZLE BUILT INTO IT. YOU DO NOT NEED ANYTHING ON THE END WITH ARROWS POINTING OUT! ALL YOU NEED ON THE OTHER END IS SOME WAY TO HOOK IT TO YOUR WAND , I USE A 3/8" X 1/4" COUPLER AND A 1/4" PLUG.

ACID WASHED A ROCK TRAILER THIS MORNING WITH MINE, TOOK ABOUT 10 MINS.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE A 100% DRAW SYSTEM , TRY A INDUSTRIAL SANDBLAST KIT FROM ESPEC. $39.95 PLUS SHIPPING.

FOR EVERY GALLON OF WATER YOUR WASHER PUTS OUT IT WILL PUT OUT A GALLON OF SOAP.

ATTACH A HOSE TO YOU CARBIDE NOZZLE AND SAND PROBE , PUT THE PROBE IN A 5 GALLON PAIL OF SOAP AND GO TO TOWN, THAT 5 GALLONS OF SOAP WILL LAST 1 MIN.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

Mellow44, I also tried the Allison. Achieved 15 - 20 % uptake, but even 23% won't do the job for me. Actually, I do use a sand blast unit for jobs requiring very high concentrations - seems to do about 15% better uptake than the X jet. However, it is brass. That is why I gravitated to the X Jet. Looking for longevity at a good uptake rate.

Also tried the ESpec nozzle, but that doesn't do any better than the "home made" version.

Thanks.

Used the 24' wand last week. worked great for second story, but went for the 3rd story with 40 degree and lost all control. Also tried the 0 degree and brought the wand down to about 16 ft.....No control. Ended up going up on the ladder.

I hate ladders.......

16 ft with chemical tip = pretty good control
16 ft with 40 degree = challenge, but controlable
above 16 ft with any pressure tip = "funniest home video" (no control)

Maybe i just need to hit the gym !!

X-jet should be here any day now. Can't wait to try it !!

I never took anything he said as a personal attack.......I was just wondering if he ever tried one, because if he did, I'm sure he'd like it.

However, up that price by about $110...........the cheapest I've ever seen a xjet was $140. :)

I believe it draws more chemicals then the 23% you are getting now..........but to be sure, you'd have to ask someone that actually is involved in selling them..........I'm just a happy end-user.

Steven,
Why do you like the Coress wand better then the Extenda wand?

How much did you pay for your Coress wand and is there a site that we can click on to see what the Coress wand looks like?

I have had 3 different types of extendable wands over the years and I find the Extenda wand to be of Superior quality and much easier to use then the other ones. The pin lock system and the sturdiness of the Extenda wand is awesome.

This 24' wand cost me $285 which is pretty expensive for an extendable wand but its money well spent because of the ease in using this wand which makes the job go faster which means more $$$$:)

To answer Bill's question I use a 40 degree 7.5 tip to reduce the pressure, I feel you have more control that way. I bought it mainly to use with the pitchwitch. For Clean Country I feel that the twist locks will hold up better over time. I have a 36' consisting of 3 - 12' sections. It was $399.00 + freight, the 24' with 3 - 8' sections are $329.00, they can be seen at www.pitchwitch.com. I was able to try the Extenda Wand from one of my chemical customers nearby, he was not satasified with it. If anyone likes email me and I will give you his phone number and I am sure he can make time to answer any questions.
