Engine electrical and charging

Engine stopped charging battery. AC voltage off the stator is around 52v for about 30 sec after engine starts, then 26 and bounce around then zero. I'm wondering if there's anything to try and fix or just replace the stator, also what to look for trouble wise when I do get to it. Diodes or something to replace?

I had a similar issue with a Kohler engine a while back. I went to replace the stator and found that several magnets on the flywheel had come loose and where being forced around the stator. I had to replace both the stator and the flywheel.

I bet that flywheel wasn't cheap. Same thing happened to my flywheel and I used a two part epoxy to reattach the magnets.

Ha, no it wasn't cheap. I think I read your post about it when I was researching what to do or someone posted something similar. I wasn't confident enough myself to try it at the time and several of the magnets where in pieces.
