Doug thats why I posted this. To open everones eyes. When the electrical inspector arrived he basically said it was an outlet rated for damp, which means its allowable under a sophet. Its not rated for wet. It was a pretty old receptacle with an old metal box. I may have actually saved this homeowners life because this was caused when rinsing the gutters while gutter whitening. A good sideways rain could have caused this. And since the breaker didnt trip it would of kept going until a major fire erupted. I'll admit, I was hesitant to call the fd cuz I knew what they would do. But at some point you have to chalk it up. The homeowner will let me return to finish the cleaning. I stayed on the property with the homeowner the whole time even if there wasnt much I can do. I could never have imagined this happening when I woke up yesterday.
