Electric fire = pretty crappy day

This is when the homeowner is glad that he hired a guy with insurance. Glad no one was hurt, and that it wasn't any worse then it already was. On a positive note, you could convince that they forgot about the very large doggy door.

What kinda wimp was that fireman look like he was having trouble getting through that wood lol.Glad nobody was hurt and it wasnt any worse than that.

Wow and I was going to post a rant about my day, hang in there Ed.

Thanks for posting that one.

I have not heard of something like that happening so it shows you that just about anything is possible and we need to really be safe around breaker boxes, even if they look good and safe.

You did the right thing and I would have also.

Thanks again Ed.

We had it happen on a dryvit building last year or the year before I posted pics to show the damage on here.

We keep a fire putter outter on the rig so I was able to minimize the damage and the fire dept confirmed there there was no further risk of fire and no damage to the interior of the building.I ened up not charging for the job and the customer was more than happy to use the $$$ he saved to repair the damaged outlet and do some minor paint touch up.
By the way taping doesn't always work.if exterior boxed are not sealed with caulk water can intrude.

I always wondered why so many power washers are also firefighters too. lol... Glad everyone is okay. Thanks for sharing the vid. Ed, In hindsight what could you or your guy have done better to prevent or minimize damage?

George we will sure as chit will have a policy in place to address this. I was thinking 3 pieces of 1'x1' epdm I have laying around the shop. A big roll of painters tape and find a dedicated spot in each truck. To miniize the damage we could of broken in to the house to hit the breaker. Not sure how that would pan out. The wire and the box were fine believe or not. Its been 1 step forward 2 steps back lately. Very frustrating.

Sorry to hear about that happening Ed. I know the feel I have had that happen to me twice now but never even close to the extent. One time it kind of took care of itself but the other time noone was home but the doors were unlocked so I went in and killed the breaker and it took care of it.

I wish you the best in dealing with them in taking care of it!!

WOW! That sucks Ed. Sorry to see something like that happen. I've popped a few breakers in my day and had a bit of smoke damage on the outside of the outlets but nothing like that.

WOW. I have never had this happen, knock on wood. So sorry to hear about this Ed, Was this a breaker in an electrical panel that the water got to or was it an exterior outlet. And can this happen on either an outlet or a breaker I guess is my question. Just trying to educate myself better on preventing this myself. Thanks so much for posting this, we can all learn something from this.
