Drive-by postcards

I want to know if anyone has tried this, when you drive-by a house and it has a dirty roof or driveway and you check it out and write down the address and when I go back home and have a nice post card and you put on there an estimate of what it would cost to do the job, because I see alot of houses that need my service and I help them out so they don't go searching for a pressure washing co.

I don't always give them a price but this is my favorite way to get jobs. I also ride around looking for dirty houses and write the address down then go home and search their property on 411.com and send them a flyer in the mail. I will send a post card, then a flyer then within a week I will go knock on their door and talk to them. When you want a job bad enough you will get it. Persistence pays off.

I would say my favorite way to lands jobs, as far as the residential EYE can see, would be people walking up to me while I am working and deciding they want my services for themselves. It says to me that they see the quality.

But I am working on a postcardesque campaign now, however it is targeted at small business's.

Just an idea, if you save all of your "junk" mail/postcards you recieve from other companies, in about two weeks you will have a great list of addresses to send targeted marketing materials to.

As far as criticism for the quote on sight type idea...I have had bad luck with it just because you can't fully inspect the work to be done without seeming like a creepo walking around the house. And if you can't see the work, then you can't know how to quote it. I have done it a few times and it led to spending well over the amount of time charged and budgeted for the job. But hey, give it a try and see if you can't refine it.

I don't see how anyone would think anything bad about someone looking at the house to give an estimate.

If you feel like a creep while inspecting someone's house, maybe time for therapy or intervention. hahahahahahaha j/k

I do a walk around all houses to give a price so there are no hidden issues or problems and I know what I am getting into, just part of how you do business.

He's talking about people who aren't your customers. If you are walking around someones house to give an unsolicited quote, then yes that is very creepy and probably trespassing
