Down streaming ratio

CL if you aren't doing roofs you should do just fine with store bought bleach. That's what I've been doing since I quit washing roofs a year ago. Univar is a 130 mile round trip for me and I could only pickup two bbls at a time. But try my trick with a cup of caustic soda beads added you'll find it really kicks up the power of the bleach.

Say your using 12% and making 10 gallons of mix and want a 7% final strength.
Calculate 12(strength of bleach) x 7(the percentage strength you want) then divide by 10(gallons of mix your making) Final answer is 8.4 - so roughly 8.5 gallons of 12% and 1.5 gallons of water make a 7% final solution.
If your down streaming and your injector is rated at 10%. Then theoretically it would pull 10% of the 7% giving you a 0.7% cleaning strength TTW. But down streaming rates always changes with hose length, gun type, weather, how the stars are ligned up etc.

Wow that looks great.i have used store bought bleach for vinyl siding cleaning with 3G of bleach/2G of H2O and simple cherry and it has worked well.
I only use 12.5% for my roof cleaning/demossing jobs as it is $25/5G up here. : I

downstream not drawing?

i'm very new in the PW business. i've learned from trial and error, internet forums, and another PW business owner who was nice enough to help me. he suggested this site, so here goes...i have a 3000 PSI, 2.7 GPM machine and a high draw adjustable downstream injector (2-3 gpm). how long should it take to empty a gallon of chemical/water? to be clear, i turned injector dial all the way to the right, which i understand to be full open (i don't want to overlook the obvious). it just didn't seem like it was drawing liquid. so...what is my obvious mistake?

ok...update...i did just watch a video. am i not using the right tip? i want to be able to hit 2-3 stories with solution.

knowing the injector is mixing solution into the water, can you suggest a mixture of bleach, soap, water for my 5 gallon container?

update to my own post. i swapped out an x-jet for the DSI. huge difference. i know my machine is considered residential, but it's what i have...could afford. xjet delivered the chemicals where i need them. could still use input on 12.5%SH for vinyl or wood siding.

But isn't that ending up with 23 gallons of mix? Just for giggles can you do the math and end up with 10 gallons of 7%?

CL. I agree unless you're doing roofs. If I'm doing a couple roofs a maybe a house and drive. I carry 100 gallons of 10 or 12% and mix accordingly.

Hi Al

I think it depends on what kind of license you have on how much you can carry. It is not legal for me to carry more than 90 gallons of bleach/chlorine. I can not carry more than 1000lbs of bleach/chlorine unless I have a CDL and my truck has the proper hazmat placards. I think it weighs almost 10.5 pounds per gallons so if you carry 100 gallons you might be overweight. Atleast you would be in Alabama
