Does this have a hinge?

Was asked today to clean a hood and ductwork for a restaurant. It looks like I have some reading to do. I told the owner I'd let him know in a few days if I could do it. Here is a pic of the outside fan, and I'm wondering if it's on a hinge in order to remove it. Thanks.

There is no hinge and that fan is not approved for grease exhaust use.

On your service report / invoice make sure you note that the system is non compliant with current code and repairs or replacement is highly recommended.

Grant, what are the liabilities that could be associated with hood cleaning if there is a fire in the near future after you have cleaned them?

Are there many things that could go wrong for a newbie doing this for the first time?

You want to get KEC specific insurance before doing any kitchen hoods.. They are NOT covered under any "pressure washing" insurance I have seen. You have some liabilities that are well beyond the scope of the coverage of those policies.
