Just like when PWI started we had many people who helped, someone stuck out to take the spot. This is what will actually happen, collectively the people volunteering with know who it is. So will the community, it will just feel right. It really not a Popularity thing as much as leadership and fairness. Most of our Admin have had cool heads, Tony & Russ are Staff members that are exceptions to the rule. If you asked Tony to be admin he wouldn't take nor does he likely feel he would be the right guy.
Right now if I where to Guess who the Next Admin on PWI would be after Steven Had his fill it would be Doug if he wanted it. I'll bet that most of the staff would agree, its not my choice nor is it Doug's to say he wants to be. Its just something we see, just like Steven was the obvious person to follow Scott. This Could Change for whatever reason, Doug wouldn't be obligated if the opportunity came up.
I guess when the Magic Happens you just know.

I'm sure we will have a section for discussing that subject on the forum. People who want to or need to discuss tempered glass issues will be able to post their concerns and promote solutions. Just like this BB the WCI BB will have subforums specific to different topics and one job of the admins is to make sure people are posting in the proper section of the forum.

I just hope your leader is someone who understands.
One of my concerns is that decisions made by the first admin or two will pigeonhole or stifle the topic.
An example would be the early decision by the admin of that LinkedIn group called "Tempered Glass Quality" to also promote scratch prevention, restoration, and IWCA research.
Or it could be relegated to an area called "Damaged Glass". To me that sounds eerily like the IWCA's quest to research and prevent glass scratching - which has been a disaster for promotion of tempered glass quality.
Who are the admins so far? Are you setting up already?

It is being set up. Ron has asked for input on subforum sections and been given a few ideas. One thing I would say is that I understand the importance of the issue and agree we need to become united as an industry. ON the other hand it's not the only issue window cleaners feel passionate about. As such it will have it's own area for discussion like other topics. If a discussion is started outside it's topic section it simply gets moved with a reminder to place threads in the proper section. Not really pigeonholing just keeping things organized.

And for the record it will be an open forum so those other thoughts on dealing with the issue will happen. We may not agree with some of the thoughts but open discussion and education are the reasons for this new forum. Feel free to promote your feelings on the subject but we won't be shutting down others thoughts on the subject just because we don't agree with them.
Thats the Attitude and stance the industry needs to actually move forward.

If you're saying you don't see yourself steering every post related to tempered glass quality into a damaged glass subforum - that's good - that is where I thought you stood, and that is why I said I was hoping for an administrator who understands.
If you're saying you WOULD favor moving or shutting down threads if anyone mentions tempered glass quality issues in a scratch removal, construction, or association subforum - then I guess I remain concerned.

If the discussion is in the proper subforum then there is no need to move it. As far as shutting things down - if people can stay civil there would be no need. I'm sure there will be discussion of tempered glass quality in any CCU or scratch removal area and since the topics overlap there would be no need to do anything with it (again as long as civility is maintained). Since we both know not all of us will agree a good rule of thumb to apply would be "learn how to disagree without being disagreeable".

Gary, as the previous admin for PWI and UAMCC I can guarantee you that understanding what tempered glass quality is has NOTHING to do with a persons ability to administrate a board. Its way more involved than that.
The concern as to where post are placed and what section they are in is irrelevant right now as I see it but I am just a dumb pressure washer. lol
If Russ was head admin right now Gary might be Banned . LOL
What Russ was Trying to Say is that your over thinking this, Plus someone has clearly lied about how and who runs the Show.
I'm glad that your asked all these silly questions because it proves that theres no dictatorship, our only admin who didn't respond was Grant. He is a BOD member for the cleaning industries most Successful cleaning association www.ikeca.com , he stays out of politic posts but is very active here. So much that he is the guy who actually keeps the BBS running. He changes or fixes any problems the bbs might have. Grant is responsible for the way we see and the way PWI feels when you use it. Often possibly has done the most over the last 12 years. He wants a raise I'll bet too.

The only Staff member that will help with the new BBS from here is Doug because he asked to help. I have asked none of the others here out of respect for them doing enough over the last 12 years here. GreatFull for there camaraderie & friendship, I guess at days end these people are real friends who have stuck with this BBS through thick and thin.
I guess these are the type of people I'm looking for, to be honest Gary I do not think you fit into a admin Role. I guess if you want to help we do not turn someone with your knowledge away if your willing to share it. Some Folks have leadership abilities and others do not.
Please do not take this wrong Gary but it would have been easier here just to come out and say I heard this was this way could you explain to me how it really is.

I opened this BBS twelve years ago, I promised it would be owned and ran by the industry. I said it would be free, I have kept that promise.
SOOOOOOOOO many others Make False Claims about what I'm doing. They just can't accept maybe I'm just great full that my life has been so enriched by the cleaning industry that maybe I just wanted to show Pay back.
I have Made millions in this industry, I have non-believers and some who know its a Fact. Frankly I do not care if anyone believes it anymore or not, its not about how much you make but truly about how many you can help. Ive been lucky enough to help 1000's
We will be giving the window cleaning industry the same gift, I'm sure it will make some madd. For the 10 madd will make 1000's happy.

Now - after a bunch of prying here, I can see that it was your decision to slot me into "Damaged Glass"
I have explained why I don't want to blunder into a situation where decisions have already been made that will hamper a discussion.

Gary, I was a member of yours, well for the year the membership paid for, but I left long before that. I understand that there is a problem with tempered glass and all that but can you call it defective when it does the job it was designed to do? Is it the MFG fault that the window is now so dirty you need a scraper? Can another solution for cleaning be discovered?
When I was over at WCN I posted that instead of pointing fingers a solution was needed and got jumped on pretty quick by everyone. Just because something has always been done one way, does not mean that there is non an equally effective or better way to get the same thing accomplished.
What I see is that in the window cleaning industry, this is the single most divisive issue that there is. And all day long all you see is finger pointing, you never see a solution except that the glass mfg is at fault.
It is because of my experience over at WCN that I have to agree with Ron's opinion. With all the gov't regulations attempting to be forced down the cleaning industry throats, solutions need to be found and not blame. Maybe it comes down to having a educational blitz to all general contractors that it is their responsibility to protect the windows or they end up replacing the window.
It is not about who is right or wrong, it is about finding a solution because you are not going to change how it is made.

What I mean is I will help you with anything you need at anytime no matter what it is....if I am not needed on this new window cleaning thing, then by all means it's not a problem with me....

Some learn other methods work
Most will behave because we are going to leave it.
We can get the real info on products instead of filtered.
Our vendors here free means they have to be good if not better. ( it's a tough group) ever wonder why it's free and heavily traffic others don't show up ?
Customers can find us here and hire us.
That's probably the biggest difference and keeps most here blogging.
