Deck Staining

I,m not a wood guy so I'll refer to those who are, My Mawinlaw wants here deck / fence stained, Iv'e researched old forums and maybe I'm just too big an idiot to find what I need to know.

Deck is 3 yrs old, never stained, pine, and it's pretty gray.

Fence is 1 year old and not as gray, also pine

Do I just stain them or use a deck wash? no need for stripper since they have never been stained right?

I know your probably tired of seeing this type of question but I just couldn't find the answer. so please don't beat me up.

I would wash it with a bleach solution, then brighten it with something like oxalic acid, and finally when it's dry I would stain it.

Im pretty new myself, but that seems to be the normal process.

nope, none.

if there is no mold bleach is not necessary. You could give pete a call at sunbrite supply and he will help you out step by step and get you the stuff you need. He has always helped me before.
