Deck Cleaning??? Need Help

I have a customer. My first repeat customer actually. And first tipper. I washed their driveway and sidewalk last December. Well anyways they are fixing to sell and are calling me back. They want their house, deck, and even a play ground washed. The House I have no problem with. It is a white house where I'll use bleach.

But they have a huge covered deck. That has a dark and rich stain to it. Or maybe more of a cherry stain. They have mold and other stuff growing on it. They are wanting me to take that off. I don't want to use bleach (Even though it would kill the mold) becasue I'm afraid it will hurt the stain.

I know there is deck wash out there. But I do not know how well it will do on the mold and bacteria. Or even the dark stain.

What are some things you guys have done to help remove the stuff yet keep the stain on. Or is the only way to restain it?

Man this is simple. Just go see Pete and Tracy at Sun Brite!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are in Lawrenceville and more than willing to help you. I had absolutely no idea of what I was doing and walked in and they headed me in the right direction on what to buy, and what was not necessary at this point with what I was cleaning.

Not a slam, but a lot of your posts are the same. How can I clean this and that with only bleach. Sometimes (a lot of times) you need MORE than bleach. Save your aggrevation and ask them, they are more than willing to help you out. The stuff is priced very reasonably. Service with a smile.

Appreciate it Jeff

I stopped in at Sun Brite today. It was kind of tucked back there. The guy there was good. Much better than Georgia Chemical. I didn't like that place. The owner there gives off the feel that unless your there to buy a $15,000 hot water system and make more than $200k a year he doesn't want you in the store.

Anyways he gave me a powder chemical called "Quic Clean Safe Wash". I was told that it will clean the wood, mold, mildew, etc. without stripping the finish off. I hope it works because I'm going to use it.

I have been to GA Chemical and they were nice and friendly. I guess I am just a loyal guy, and Sun Brite has helped me tremendously. I was really fronting someone the money to actually do the pressure washing, he had a lot of experience. After I paid for the equipment(hot water rig, trailer, surface cleaner), insurance, advertising, corporation set up fees etc he crapped out on me. Here I was sitting with all this stuff and no one to run it. I had only done little stuff around my house with a unit from Lowes, so I knew nothing and walked in and told Tracy that I did know nothing and he set me down the right path with pricing, chemicals and knowledge.

It seems like in the Atlanta area different companies kind of specialize in different areas. GA Chemical more equipment sales, Sun Brite more chemical sales, I use ASAP here in Duluth for all of my repairs. They have also been great to me.

I am fairly new (1 year) but seem to think I am on the right track. It is a part time thing for me but I really enjoy it and where else can I make 500-700 a good weekend? Give me a call sometime if you like.

I did notice that about Georgia Chemical. How they seem to specialize in equipment sales. If I was to get a hotwater system I'd go to them. Or if I was to get one of those large water tanks I'd get those used ones that they sell. Anything else though I'll go to Northern Tool or Sun Brite.

I don't stay loyal. I go to who I feel is doing me the best. I can't afford to do it any other way.

But Tracy was very helpful. Infact I'll probably go out and get some truck wash from him tommorow. I've got to wash the billiard company's box truck (Who I'm working for now) cleaned up.

And by the way. The deck cleaner I got did a great job.
