Cost of running a bb like this one?

1. software is 165.00
2. Domain registration I had but it was 65.00 for three years.
3. Some help from some good friends. FREEEEEEEE
4. Server space is about 35.00 a month. I’m not paying yet. (another good friend)

The way I see this is if more people running BBS makes more competition and I think that’s good. They may disagree but I have already seen competition work first hand. Things are already changing. (For the better)


Predictions in the future

Delco will get their site up to speed and probably use the same software we use.

Our bb will pull ahead and become #1

Two more BBS will start up in the coming months.

The older BBS will upgrade and get better.(membership will get larger due to more competition)

The once leaders of this BBS network will have stopped taking others for granite and start changing there attitudes. (Allowing freedom with links & products)


Competition will make things better for everyone, I’m going to try to out do the next guy and stay on top. That other guys going to try to out do me. That’s what it all about and you guys the members get all the perks.
 
So, if that is all it costs, why is that other clown seeking "donations" which amount to a nice tidy little sum? Add to this, he gets advertising dollars, too! Talk about a scam! Is this a profit center for him? Not enough from pwing, so running a BB gets him thru the winters? Glad I never gave anything.

Why are so many boards needed, that post the same questions and elicit the same responses from the same people? Redundancy in anything is not always a good thing!
 
The "Other" guy does a fine job also. If he makes a few dollars(Which I doubt) from running his bb so what. Its time consuming considering the amount of post that these administrators put into there bb's to keep it interesting and helpful.

As for there being so many different bb's once again so what. The more the merrier. Not everyone replies to all the bb's and the more responses that one gets for his questions the more info he has which is the reason for these bb's in the first place.

It just goes to show people that you can please most of the people most of the time but not all of the people all the time as the thread before mine has indicated.

Is it really neccessary to call someone a clown rather then using his/her real name?

Dan Flynn has every right to ask for donations, that does not mean you have to send anything in does it?

What would you do if this board started asking for donations?

Ok sure it most likely will never happen, but what if it did? would Ron become a clown or worst?

What about say a board that you have to pay to join before you can enter?

Oh by the way, how about a city and state and perhaps a bit more info on you?

I will never charge, your right Dan’s no clown. Dan Flynn has the right to do what he what’s with his bb because it’s his. Its members who participate own the content of this bb I have announced.

I posted the costs because people still don’t believe I’m not going to charge. I wanted those that where skeptical to know that the cost of running this bb probably doesn’t cost as much as a bad habit. Smoking each month probably costs more than this bb. I think I can afford to run this as a hobby for a few years and if I get tired I will let the board vote on which person will take it over. know that everyone knows how much and that I’m not a rich man and that its not that expensive and I also believe that the more there are the merrier.
 
I knew this would come up. I was the person who thought it would be a good idea to donate $50 and I would do it again. The cost of the BB has nothing to do with a $50 donation. If Dans makes a few dollars on the site so what. Profit is what makes thing turn and return. A question, do you think Delco has its BB for just good will? No they want Delco's name out and into the trade so that they will be able to make profit.

When I asked for people to donate to Powerwashnet, Dan had just moved and he was starting a new home in Texas and the bb was a major outlet for info. and I compared the info. received vs. the info. from PWNA. Both bb are great and the info. pipeline is well worth the $50. In fact if Ron charged I would send in the money.

dont fuel the fire for guys like this, you can never win. they just come up with more stuff.

To others that read this post,

My intentions are not to show how much dans bb is, dans bb probably costed a lot more. remember i have a freind who owns a server company & another that down loaded the software. all these services where free and could cost others thousands.

Dans costs may be 20 times what mine are? i'm sure they are not as cheap.

Dans bb is different and i believe being different is a good thing. if i get tired of the same stuff i tune to delcos bb. i visit all bbs and i recomend to everyone to go to all of them.
i like daves bb because it is more open. all bbs are great!!!

if your interested in starting a bb i know some that are completly free. yes freeeeeeeeee totally free.

they work better than most,
 
my my my i could really get off on this subject but i dont have the time .........LEAVE Dan Flynn alone he is no clown .........i will never stop posting on his bb ........i know that wasnt the issue here but ...................... take a hike.........

Thank you Mr. Flynn for your board it has saved me tons of money...and i hope i can save other's money as well by giving some what of an advice...............

On our BB people may voice their opinions. Now as far as deleting this posts, well, that’s up to our moderators. If two agree that the post should be gone then its gone. That would mean Scott, Jon & john has the decision.

The rules on my bb is that its takes two moderators to delete a post that’s questionable. If they’re foul languages then it’s gone immediately. (This one is borderline in my book)


Remember we as a membership are moderating the bb together. I do not make decisions with out the members. Sorry Dan s. I want you to know I share your viewpoints and wanted to get rid of this guy when he first posted. This is your bb and I appreciate your opinion just like I need to respect those that differ.
 
Even though I’m the administrator I do not make decisions with the help of my friends. It’s a rule on this bb that we take the post in question to the moderators sections and then someone seconds the motions and then its carried out.

I try to stay in the neutral corner and let the moderators do their job. They have complete control and have done wonderful thus far. I sure it will continue to be great.
 
ok and well said i respect that.........i do however think that we as contractor"s should always be looking into setting an example for every one ...calling names b/c one might not agree with something is just *********** .....i do know that everybody has an opinion and right or wrong i guess we have to except it............
 
You guys are unbelievable!! I use a word "clown" and everyone gets their underwear in a bunch! (oh oh, better delete that, too!) Ron says the word is borderline. What the hell planet are you living on?

Tell you what, delete the post, delete my account, because Dave, Jon and the rest of you are pretty damn lame and pathetic. I post a simple message about someone taking money as donations and you tear me a new one. Fine. Stick together and spend your patheic existence on this board. Some of us have a life, though from the quantity of stupid questions, and responses to questions that give no information, most of you do not. You are the weakest links...GOODBYE!

My oh my, zippo do you reliaize you just gave yourself away, you said the very same words in the very same order as a couple other names that have float around town.

For your information, all I said was not to put others down with names like you have been doing.

There are nice ways to say the same thing without putting anyone or anything down if you took the time to do it.

Oh and for your information none of us felt it was bad enough to talk about deleting it.

Well we all know it takes many different kinds of people in the this world to make things work, some good, some so so and some bad but at least we all try to get along here.
