Same here even the subcontractor himselfRuss Spence said:down here they no speakay english!
around here they just bid a bus stop account 27 dollars cheaper per stop than the last contractor. less than 12 dollars per bus stop for at least 1/2 hour at each location. who can compete with that you cant even pay labor with that rate.
They bid bus stops here at 3.65 each for pressure washing and trash. They are nuts. It does not matter the cost, they want all the work.
Of course, I was doing some work where they were, and they missed a stop, or two. Well, maybe they missed 9 out of 10 stops...

They did it here too. The only thing I can figure is they are trying to force any source of competition out of business then run the price back up. Nothing else makes sense. We can't roll the hoses out and back up for what they will do a 25 unit day cab job for.
Some of the larger tree companies have been doing that for decades. They come into town and lowball the powerline contracts so low that nobody can compete with them then after a year or two they raise the prices back up to where they should be, at that time there is no competition.
The tree companies that had the powerline contracts now don't have the work to support all the crews and end up selling off tons of equipment, a few of them closed their doors after a couple of years of losing the contracts, it was a shame each time.
Where some cities operate at a loss, most operate at a good profit. That is one way to get rid of the competition.
