hey look, no SH1T! went to dinner a shoneys tonight with the kids , she dissapears and comes back the owners of 50 shoney store franchises were in town and she gives the manager a card , then they (owners) come over and want a price on a 2 times a year contract for exterior of buildings and all walkways turned in by Thursday !

Man I swear I could dump her in a barrell and dump hores sh1t on her and she would come up with a rose in each hand

well to tell you the truth after taking a peek a yalls great web site man i think shes doing all the contracting and your doing all the playing on the computer:) :) :) all bull.... aside man thats an awsome site and man Ashleys been trying the cold calling and were just not getting nowhere so any advice you or your wife could give would be great it also looks like Ron is going to share some more expertise here soon. Ive got my domain but now for the hard part to accually build the site thats all a foreign language to me so that might take a while

i started cold calling again and i got nowhere. its hard to get to the individual you need to talk to. its like the person answering the phone is there to fend off unwanted calls.

Mike - here are some tips for cold calling and avoiding the receptionist or sale killer.

1.) Call after hours and go into a company directory - these usually list peoples names and their titles at the company. That way you will get the persons name, then you can call in and ask directly for them.

2.) Simply ask "Who do I speak with regarding becoming a new vendor" oddly this sometimes works.

3.) Ask for a department not a person - call and ask for "purchasing" or "property maintenance".

great info. im definitely going to try this!

Ok I am going to get my wife to start cold calling... Everytime I cold call I usually become lesdexic..dexlexstic..dyslexic... I do better mailing flyers and putting out business cards and meeting and selling door to door in person with the manager... I did real good at sales when I went to HOOTERS I just got in there and then I forgot what I was there for ...so I ate.. and I was doing just fine and then my wife called .... Oh yeah I am here to sell the hood cleaning...................

Cold Calls .... I got a list of all the restaurants in Mississippi , phone numbers , etc.. We have started calling doing market research on how often they have there vent hoods cleaned and they average price they are willing to pay .. You would be amazed at how coopreative these managers are... It seems on a average of 30 calls in the Jackson area the average reataurant ecpects to pay around $350 to $400 per 3 month cleaning... 10 Calls had know comment .. 10 Calls said they have it cleaned when the restaurant gets smokey.. and the other 10 said they get it cleaned every 3 to 4 months.. So Marketing research may be a pay off for us.. I do see now that the lowballers have definetly cut the price expectations of our potential market..

When we got into concrete cleaning about 3 years ago out of roughly 50 potential customers we contacted around 40 said they clean it themselves every week... so not much business there... What is sad to find out about vent hood cleaning is the prices have not made a big rise in Mississippi.. In 1990 I was cleaning vent hoods for $225 to $300.. Now the average is $350 to $400.. In 17 years Mississippi vent hood cleaning have only increased by $100 or so dollars... I have talked to the Mississipi state fire dept about a license requirement for vent hood cleaning but was told it was not in the budget... By doing some cold calling surveys I have found out that there are also vent hoods being cleaned by companies I have never heard of before...

The difference between painting/pressurewashing

If I went to a home owner cold turkey and asked to give a free demo of my painting skills I would have the hose turned on me or depending on what part of town, a gun. I guess it is a different call than what I am used to.

I like the idea of someone giving a soundbyte of how they do this procedure. Hey Ron, You seem to be up for the task from your infovideo open forum. Care to give a little help?

Sorry to keep posting about this but as i asked in the other thread..If the stores are dirtier then the others when you are asked to do 100-200 stores quarterly or monthly or weekly do you give one price for all of the stores or do your prices vary thanks guys!

above question.....

Fleet account. Walked in cold call August 1986. Been doing their equipment for 22 years now. Over the years we have picked up 5 more of their locations.

Current annual revenue that started with the cold call back in ’86 is well into 5 figures per year.

Be in the right place at the right time and then be able to handle the customer’s needs.

Anyone that Runs a successful business cold calls.

If you think this business will run off refferals and directorys you are mistaken.

I guess the question is after years of viewing this thread you can see the contractors here that are very successful and the ones that are pretty much the same.

We are adding on another employee, despite the down turn in the economy.

We have increased cold calling for sure.

Recently several nationwide mang. co. have requested bids from one side of the country to the other.

Millions of dollars in pressure washing.

Some here know the accounts and we wont mention them. Some got called and others cold called.

I sure would not have wanted to be one of those guys that sat by the phone and the phone never rang.

By the way: We are talking Commercial Work. NOT res....
