Going up the hill to Flagstaff dumped the clutch just before the New River off ramp.

Now waiting on AAA to bring me my truck.....

That is a lot of miles, is that the original clutch?

The most I have heard of is about 150k miles on the original clutch, that was also about 15 years ago, probably a lot better made now.

Well 3 months ago I had to replace the fuel pump that item was original.:yikes:

The drivers side headlight bulb went out 4months ago that frigg'n thing was original too!
Funny thing is I remember being able to get the flywheel resurfaced at Arizona Brake & Clutch at any time 24hr shop. They changed name and are not even open on Sundays now! And to top everything off I had to shut it down cause one of the neighbors has a newborn, I respect my neighbors and don't want to wake the infant with my compressors and impact guns running.

So I'll hit it at sun up.

Will the pressure plate or the throwout bearing have a manufacture's stamp on them?

Yep New River.... what do you say to that?

AZ Highway patrol pulls up right as back up arrives to rescue me (banter me really) anyway gave the oficer a rundown of the situation even knew the name of the tow-truck driver coming from AAA . He said ok just making sure your ok and then backed up about 100' and laid out one flair. And left.

So we all discussed the amount of taxation in relation to the amount of flairs we were allotted.

Here's that one flair. Workhorsedown 011.jpg

Why do my pics have a red haze?

Good call, just noticed I was using wrong spelling o flare too. hahaha:smash:

Sometimes things just don't go well, we put the new flywheel and 3 piece clutch kit in and ..........NO GO! Big FAIL

After 2.5hrs to bleed hydraulic clutch I find I have no 1st, 2nd, 3rd 5th or reverse. Fourth was grabbing .

Dropped it back out and this time pulled the shift tower off.
Found the shifting forks were shot one was wore so thin it became a Ginsu knife.
So call all over town, if I want a complete shift tower it's coming from Portland. Then I found Natpro and they had everything but the housing for this particular tower.
And they are just minutes from my front door NICE. But at 4:29pm (they close at 4:30) I discover they don't take CC hahha so I'll get the new shifting forks in my hands at 7:30am.

Glad you got it figured out Lou, that sucks doing a job and finding out there are other things wrong also.

Lou,
If that slave cylinder is an internal slave cylinder (sits behind the throw out bearing), I would replace it while you have the transmission out. They are notorious for going bad shortly after a clutch is replaced. I've worked as an auto tech for 18 years and I have seen that happen countless times. I would hate to see you have to pull the trans out a third time.

Is there a spring/spring set I should concern myself with between the the shift forks and the housing of the tower. I'm thinking remove the 5 pins slide out the shift rails, I'm anticipating springs shooting out (never to be seen again).

Am I correct in this analysis?

Can you believe I can now drop this out with in 2hrs getting good.:victory:

I have taken a transmission out of a F-450 in 45 mins by myself when I was 14...lol :nanner: Course...it was only the tranny. My dad had disconected everything else beforehand.

Sorry to hear you're having so much fun with that!
