Cleaning Brick Patio

Hello Everybody,

I will be estimating a price for pressure washing a brick patio with grease, moss and grime at a local restaurant. They want me to pressure wash the plastic chairs and tables as well. The bricks have sand inbetween them. Will this be an issue?

Is there any specific advise I should have about cleaning the chairs...price/chair...chemical vs. no chemical?

Thanks,

Scott

bring a broom and some sand to fill in, if needed.
The problem with the plastic furniture is
too much pressure will remove the shiny coating
and it blows around.
use a bucket and brush to clean it. Then a light rinse.

Thanks Ron,

I will mention the sand to the restaurant owner. That is a great idea.I will use a large brush and lots of soap to clean the chairs and tables. I never thought about the shiny coating. You are right.
Another alternative is to use the variable pressure wand and hot water with low pressure and follow with a finishing brushing. We are talking about approximately 80 chairs and twenty tables.

I am thinking about charging $.50 a chair and $1.00 a table and
$.06/sq. ft. for the brick.

Thanks for the input,

Scott

Scott,
I do a large area, about 40,000 sq ft., aleast once a year that is brick walks with sand in them. I started using Renew this year on them. I mix it half and half and then apply it through my downstream. I let it dwell about 10 minutes. Then I use my duel lance wand with a 40 degree tip and cut back the pressure as low as I can to do the job. This works really good. It blows out some sand but I have not have to replace any of it. I usually have a couple of shovels of sand to clean up after I finish for the day.

why don't you use a surface cleaner?
As to .06 per sqft for the brick, I think that is kind of low.
I am doing the same job next week, brick patio, grass and moss on and around brick, no sand though. I charged .25 per sqft and they didn't bat an eye, just signed the quote. I am however going to remove the grass and weeds.

Wow!
$.25/SQ.FT. I may have to charge more. I will be using a surface cleaner and hot water. I have "RENEW" so I might use that.

Question: Is it customary to charge more for brick than flatwork? In my area, flatwork is about $.06/sq.ft.

Thanks,

Scott

I have found that you remove alot more sand with the surface cleaner. I use it on a bad area but stay away from it on the big areas. It is less time using the wand then going back and rincing the sand down and cleaning up.

i don't go less than .12 for flat work (brick or concrete).
that is residential though.
.06 for commercial, only with a monthly cleaning. 3,6 or more months in between cleanings we charge more.
hope this helps.
