Chris Dubbs I could use some 12 volt help

Chris, I believe you have an electronics business?
I just bought a 20" high velocity fan.
How can I find out how many watts it's pushing?
I will be installing the fan in a box truck to cool my machines.
I am looking for an inverter to purchase. Guy Blackman told me he uses a 400 watt inverter. But I'm not sure what size fan he is using. I just want to make sure I get one that can handle the fan on high speed.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It will be more $$ , but I always try to get a inverter with at least 3 times the power you need so it runs cooler and more efficient. So 600 to 800 would be good. Also, you will find it useful for other things, like a shop vac or lighting.

Thanks Chris, I've got a few more questions.
Would it be a bad idea too hook the inverter up too the truck battery? How quick would it drain a battery with that fan running before the truck needed too be started? I know it depends on the size of the battery. But would it be an hour or a few hours?

You should hook it up to deep cycle marine batteries and have them charge of the truck battery with an isolator. I would run 3 batteries minimum.

Thanks, that's why I'm asking. I want too do it right the first time.
I know not too run it off the 12v skid.
Next skid will be 120v

120v skid is the way to go. Then you wouldn't need the inverter. But for now, the dual battery isolator is the way to go. Hell, just get a recliner in there and you can retreat to the box truck when ya need to get away. Lol

Another way you could go if $$ isn't a issue would be a small generator. Small Honda 1600 watt is about $1000 plus you could take it out and use it for different projects.

Inverter, isolator, batteries, and wiring for good brands probably $700 -$800 and it only works in your truck. Something to think about.

Chris, do you sell any of this? I've been looking on eBay and seems pretty cheap. I'm sure it's Chinese crap!
I've also been seriously thinking about a trailer, if I did do the trailer it would solve the problem.
But I do also like the security of the box truck. So up in the air on that.
