Chewing Gum Removal Steam Cleaner

hello I have a dupray carmen model I use it a lot on a college campus it is job specific as a few entrances are brick paver block and the power washer just blew the sand out of the cracks so had to use the gum machine I have some areas that i use the gum machine and then go over it with the power washer and other areas just the gum machine it depends on how often i get back to that area most areas i can work during school hours as the machin is not loud and does not use a lot of water so all in all it is a job specificmachine one in which i had bought it first and then bought my power washer

Well this brings to mind the question: Couldn't you just burn it off with a torch? And then hit it with the washer?
Oddly enough was out to dinner last night with my daughter & the EX and pointed out all the gum spots out side the cafe.
I'm now addilng GUM to my list of things that should be outlawed along with bolt cutters.

I did the gumbuster thing for many years. Have converted all accounts to just pressure washing. You have to pressure wash any way or the concrete has all these clean spots. Looks bad at the end. Its quicker to remove the gum with a wand. soft concrete? , turn the heat up and lower the pressure. the steam machine takes 5-15 seconds PER PIECE. 1-2 for the wand and you actually remove it better. plus you have chemical costs with the steamers. the steam by itself doesn't work on the gum, you have to inject a chemical to dissolve the resins. And it doesn't always dissolve all the way and your left with these little gum buggers that you don't see until the concrete is dry.
just go with hot water.

Great Post Jon

Gum Revoal with Surface Cleaner

When I purchased my machine, I ordered the 21" Mosmatic Surface Cleaner with a gum port. I have cleaned a little over 30,000sq. ft., at a school removing gum as I go with 160 Degree Heat.

You clean the area with the surface tool, and then run the gum port over the gum

Gum removed, no residue or discoloration.

I have to eat my words. I said gum removed and not residue. Wrong again. I just finished another school job, a lot of gum, the gum came up but left dark residue on the concrete. I did re-clean the area, stil a dark shadow. Old gum is a challenge, even using EBC
