OK here it is...I got to talking with the Supermarket Manager in town and casually asked him when he was going to let me get rid of all the chewing gum from the sidewalk....he says to me " I wont pay for it again, there was a company that came out with a huge machine with hot water and spent ALL NIGHT, the gum was gone but there was still spots". So this obviously was the infamous ghost left behing. Apparently...and I love this type of competition.. Company X did everything with a wand and no surface cleaner, so I know I can do the whole job quicker with my Surface cleaner but my ultimate question is...how can i do a sure fire demo that removes the gum ghost so i can get this contract? There has to be something out there..I searched and pulled up ZEP oven brite...is this the only chem that works?? I want to prove this manager wrong even if as a marketing gig I give the job away!!! I know it will lead to the other stores in the chain.

Here is what I do. I clean the gum off with a wand first 45 deg tip 180 deg water 5 gpm 3500 psi then I spray a concrete cleaner detergent on the ground let sit till almost dry run over the entire surface with SC and rarely have the ghost. Most of my accounts are on a regular basis so gum does not sit for months or weeks. I find a SC wont really get gum up.

I hear you about SC not getting gum up I will hit gum spots first with wand then SC the rest of the job and re hit the gum spots if need be.

I find it faster to use the surface cleaner then you can see the gum easier and not doing double work. Hot water and a 15 or 25 degree tip does it every time. I am also looking for something for the gum shadows.
