chemical application

Is anybody else appling chems with a 0040 tip and downstream injection? Works like an x-jet without having to lug around a bucket or extra hose. Works great. If you havn't tried it you should really cuts down the time it takes to wash a house. You can apply chemicals up to 30 feet at low pressure. Cuts down on ladder time and extension wand use. As a matter of fact i never use an extension wand and rarely have to get on a ladder.

Hope this helps a few folks.

An important point you left out is that a downstreamer dillutes your chemical at 10 or 20 to 1.................where an xjet only dillutes 2 to 1.

Chuck,
When you put on Chemicals with this tip what is the Ratio of Water to Chemical that is hitting the object being cleaned. THe beauty of the x-jet is that you can put on chemicals/water at a 1 to 1 rate. The reason why I love this tool.

my down streamer is adjusable so u can choose the ratio but i don't think u can go 1 to 1 with it. i usally go through 1-2 5 gallon buckets of mix per house. That consists of half gallon 15%bleach,gallon emulsifier plus, half a small bottle of ultra ivory, and the rest water per bucket. Works great . dilution also depends on tip. a 0030 will not suck as much chem as a 0040.

I apply almost everything with a x-jet, one good thing besides the 1 to 1 rate you can also get 1 to 500... which I have never used but I am sure I will...

I'm with you Chuck,I also own a X-jet,its stays in my tool box altime tho.Mine was given to me by a wholesaler in Tenn.,sure glad I didn't spend the money to own one,no it wasn't Steven as the one given.

I can make one out of a downstreamer and as you said you just have to get it tweaked but once you do u can roll with it.For less then 15 dallors to build I think thats rock and roll.

This ideal came from Les several years ago,we where always talking about speed and cost,I think it was a great ideal in the cost saven..And I think it was Les and I that started talking about more gpm for speed other then the 4 and 5 gpm we where running. The last time we talked which has been ages he was looking for a 20 or 40 gpm rig, cann't remember but we came up with a few ideals but don't know if he builit it or not, cann't remember, lol.

Less did build it and then when he used it he got blasted thru the house next to the one he was using it on.:D :D

Just kidding of course but I can't imagine what it would be like to hold a wand that is putting out 40gpm's at a hi psi. I would think it would be like a fire hose where you would need more then one guy to handle this beast.

hahaha yep but we don't use alot of psi,as long as we have enough psi to push the water out the end of the wand we can clean anything,we let the chemcals do the job, just need water to rinse it off not psi,A fire truck was on his mind tho for the gpm.

i can lay out

300 ft of line and still use my x-jet can you still use your downstreamer?
Also remember that Chucks info is based on his equipment and may not give the same results as he get's.
psi, gpm, mfg. of downstreamer, hose langth, and the tips he uses all need to be taken into concederation. Harold Bently is the one ive learned this from.
Bigboy has his own set-up and dose'nt even use a downstream injector. He has a plumbing set-up that can allow his pump to draw chem at rates a reg. downstreamer cant.
Bigboy I have a folder with every post on every bbs you have posted in the last 2 1/2 years.
[the informitive ones,that is]
very few people can get your past information because no search button was around. Shoot only Delco was around and that info is long gone.
They say on a hot day find the old dog and sit next to him.

Much can be said about learning from old dogs.
However, I'd check for fleas and a collar before sitting too close!

i use 300 feet of line on each reel and downstreamer works just fine. My set up is a 25hp kohler command, a general ts2021(5.6gpm,3200psi,for those that don't know). I have my downstream injector installed just before hose from coil enters my haney reel. Don't know who makes my downstreamer but if my dist. gives it to me its top of the line. I run 100 gallons of bleach through it a month and never flush it and they usaly last a year before they quit drawing.

Let me just make it clear i DONT have a problem with the x-jet. I just dont like hauling a bucket of mix around the house with me or having to deal with extra hose for those that run a long hose on theirs and leave the bucket at the truck.

I'm just trying to give tips on being able to do a job faster. After all time is money.

I too have had success using a 0030 tip. I have put it on my 6' wand, and have found that I can use my upstream, which normally requires me to use the low pressure setting. I am able to hit the top of gables with this, and it is a tight pattern, easier to just hit gutters, and trim without waste or gettting too much on shingles. I don't get near a 1:1 draw rate, but I don't dilute with water. I won't upstream anything harmful to the pump, but I have not "rigged" an injector yet.

I really like the x-jet, and use it a great deal. But I have been having some problems with my x-jet drawing spiratically, and if I put my 0030 tip on it (like I use the close range tip) it draws consistantly.

Marv, Check these two things out on your X-Jet.
1: Make sure there is not a small piece of trash in the orifice. Take it apart where the plug screws in and use a paper clip to clear it out.
2: make sure it is not sucking air around where the suction hose connects to the X-Jet. I have found there are the only things that can cause problems and if by some chance the orifice is worn, it can be replaced.

$15?

I would certainly like to give it a try, at that price. I have been diluting and/or portioning down to slow down refilling bucket.

It seemd like I should be able to make or "rig" one, but I haven't been around enough to figure it out. The ones I have seen assemble at stores are close to the x-jet in price.

Steven

Thanks for the tip. I check both suggestions, and tested today, no change. It seems I need to restrict the flow to get a consistant draw. Perportioners are effecting it. Only thing to rememdy so far is putting a 0030 on the tip. Which it hasn't hurt me any, I still get good distance.
