Checking out a Hydrotek

Okay, we have it narrowed down to a couple of machines, and are really leaning toward a Hydrotek SC32007KQ. Here's the thing, we only have one "local" Hydrotek dealer. His "special" on this machine is $6000. Is this a decent price or is he out of line. I expect to pay more for 6.3GPM and the 25hp Kohler, but I guess I don't know how much more.

Also have a Landa dealer with a PGHW for $5981 (I couln't find this one on there site) and a SEHW for $7496. Now, the second one is a little out of our ball park and less GPM.

These are what we are looking at, any good advice would be much appreciated. If the local prices are out of line, we may check into mail order, but I would prefer to keep my money somewhat local. Well, what do you think guys?

the 6.3 GPM is prob. a realistic 6 gpm, thats great. Now how are you going to supply that amount of water to the pump?
You will not get that volume of water from most spigot's. So now you need a tank, even if to supplement the spigot. How big a tank will depend on what your going to tow it with.
Did you think of these cost's?
Local is good , the sales tax sucks, but so dose shipping cost's, and if get's damaged in transit or is broken from day one, that also stinks.
I dont know about Landa vs. Hydrotec but i would compare the pump's,engines, servicabilty, and overall quality of the construction. Also fuel tank size and warrentee's.
Are both 12 volt systems or 120 volt?
We have good people here that sell wash units.
I can tell you about my next wash unit.
6 gpm,24 hp honda,120 volt, upsteam and downstream soap,hose,nozzles,lance,ect...it's less then $4,500.00 and its mail order. I am very happy with the one i have now, same mfg. Even e-spec cant beat it.

We have run a HydroTech SC3005 Diesel for 9 years. Great machine but like anything else you will have to keep them maintained. If you buy HydroTech, buy local, some of their parts are particular to only HydroTech and it will be much easier getting serviced if you go back to the guy you bought it from. Price sounds good but like the earlier post, you will need a tank and trailer. They have a great looking set up called the ProTow Wash. Good luck.

Scherwash,
You might ask the distributor about how many repair parts they stock for that big Kohler. Also if you relationship with them tanks who in the area carries parts for your machine.
Have you considered a Honda powered unit? I my self am partial to them. They run quieter and with normal oil and filter changes seem to be much more reliable than others!
Ron P. brought up a great point about water. Dont forget to figure the weight of the full water tank and pw unit in when you look for a trailer, truck ect.
One additional thing, dont even mess with 5/8" supply water hoses! Buy the 3/4" contractor hoses. The differance in volume is tremendous. Faster fill of the tank and could keep your pump from cavitating if you are running direct.
Buy a repair manual for pressure washers and start reading it so you will understand the systems.
Buy some extra strength tylenol, advil, ect. to take for you muscles and back when you come in from 4-12 hour jobs.

Sorry this was sooooooooo long!
Good Luck!!

I am not advertizing here! just take a look at the Hydrotek link below. Also I will look up the price of the machine he Quoted you on and give you an assesment on the price. The prices on the page are the price that same dealer must give you. Plus tax and shipping.

Thanks for your responses, I'm glad to see that other people found there computers, when I couldn't even think about mine.

Ron: We are looking at 120v at this point, I've heard that it's better. We already have the water tank and do not plan to ever use anyones water spigot.

Jim: I'll check out the Pro Tow Wash... is it enclosed? That's what we are shopping for, as Minnesota winters are sometimes as bad as most people think they are!

beyoungsr: The distributor here does keep everything in stock (at least that's what he says). Thanks for the tip on the hoses! Oh, and quick... buy stock in Advil!

John: Thanks so much for the link. I printed it up to bring to Brian in a little bit. Have you had a chance to check the other price for me? You can just e-mail it to me if you want.

We are planning to visit the dealers this week. Gosh, can't wait to get this decision made!

Thanks,
Christi

Wanna loan me the money? Maybe take up a collection? Call it research expenses? Okay, you don't have to, I'll just reach into my piggy bank... LOL.
