Cedar Sided House Restoration

When I went out for the estimate on this job the homeowner wanted a price to replace his old cedar siding to match the new cedar siding on the house and then to stain it. I told him we could restore the wood back to original tone and stain in to where you really wouldn't be able to tell and for a lot less money. He was told it couldn't be done because of the age of the old cedar and the buildup of coats that had been applied. Soffit area and areas protected along the roof lines there was a good build up of coats and then a lot of heavy mold and mildew in areas. Anyway, job completed and one really happy homeowner. We also cleaned all the composite decking, concrete, and front paver patios and steps.

Looks sweet Everett!!

What stain did you use on it?

A little of everything on this job, I had to buff some areas, sand some areas, and under the front door and garage soffits I used a solvent stripper letting sit over night to get all the wood as even as possible before staining. The stain was a mix of 3 Gallons Deck Restoration Plus Burlington Gold, 1 Gallon of Cabot New Cedar, and 1/2 Gallon of Deck Restoration Plus Seneca Brown. The homeowner wanted as light as possible but to look consistent and even all the way around, we accomplished that.

Good Job
