Cargo Trailer

I have always used a trailer, But with gas prices being three dollars a gallon, been thinking about maybe a 12 ft box truck with a cat motor...

Had to buy a vent system from Delco to provide exhausted air out the top...

Yes trailers are a pain, But I think you will run in to problems with what ever you get, pro and cons with all units... which works for you...

Matt

I use to have this long piece of fabricated sheet metal do deflect the exhaust out the back....I got tired of it being in the way, so I just moved my pw back in the trailer a little and it has worked fine for a year and a half. By the way, no flame is shooting out of it. You can see the orange glow from the gap, but nothing shoots out. I heard that if it's doing that, then the packing needs replaced...

I've got a big hotsy in the trailer now. Cut a hole in the roof for vent.

If you stick with a short trailer you will have no problem with drive thru's or alleys, that is if you can manuver a trailer. I wouldn't want my wife back my trailer through a lot.;)

I know prefer pickups and utility toppers. This gives you 3 seats and a separate contained area for all your greasy stuff.

Josh, I would like to see your set-up for your truck, I was thinking of something like this, But wonder if all my stuff would fit or an ease to get to stuff.

Matt

As far as the ramps I would stick with the double doors if you get ramps the whole trailer will move every time you go up or down with it. if yuo need to get the unit off the trailer ( I keep mine latched down inside) get some cheap ramps from Tractor supply or Harbor Freight. I vent mine right out the back and it works fine ( just keep the doors open!)
I also have one of Rusty's trailers and they are laid out well however I bought a propane fired unit that we use inside malls and buildings where the runs are too long and we just wheel it into the back of the pick up truck. I am looking at moving up to a Dodge Sprinter van since they get 23-27 MPH and drive pretty nice as well. Just wondering if anyone here is using a pickup with a metal service body on the back since the truck maintianace place next to us wants to sell us one with a enclosed reading truck body with all the cargo compartments on the outside

I don't think that truck would have sufficient space inside. Those side boxes take up a lot of floor room. I had some pics of inside my truck, but can't seem to find them. I'll have to take some more.

When your trailer burns up because you have failed to vent the system please let us know. When the machine gets a few hours on it, things happen & issues become big flame problems-fast.

My crew run a variety of vehicles. Without question the best for all reason would be the Isuzu Crew cab flat bed. Job set up and take down is fast. Truck can turn on a dime and gets 21mpg. I have a crane and flood lamps for use as needed.

The here is climate is great and seldom do we get below 35. I would have a tilting shell if I were located in places like the Nations Sports Capital.

I think I would prefer a retractable dome to the tilting shell....maybe it is just a sport thing. ;)

i use a big box van ...much more room than i need for cleaning hoods. Then again i still make custom furniture. so comes in real handy. Tommy lift is nice to.

Josh-that was good! Just a few more weeks and the games start-In Raider Nation we are ready.

21 is just one MPG less than my 2003 140 SHC Sprinter. What do you guys do about the floor in the Econolines and other vans? I finally put a plywood floor in my 2003, and ordered the wood floor for my 2005 Sprinter. I find the corrugated floor is very tiring to walk on.I is also difficult to mount tool boxes and parts cabinets on.

21 max on the road-in town 15-18.

I been setting up my rig I am using a 6x12 single Axel trailer. I placed my rig up front and my tank over the Axel. The main reason I did this aside for balance is that PW dealer sold me an exhaust that mounts to the burner and directs it out the side door of the trailer.
