Anybody have any experience cleaning the walls of in bay car washes? If so what are some chemicals to try and process. I've heard both aluminum brite and sodium hydroxide. Thanks in advance.
 
If it's painted concrete block, be careful with sodium hydroxide. One great thing to try is both! Spray some alum brit on first with a pretty high concentration, then chase it immediately with a caustic mix. If you don't see an immediate reaction, you're doing it wrong.
It might be best to use a strong bleach mix though if your not too familiar with the others. Just let it dwell.
 
Typically we will use an acid like alum brightener to do the job. We use it because of the buildup of the alkaline soap and hard water deposits. In some cases you may just use a soap and bleach solution (like a strong house wash mix) if you are dealing more with mildew than scale buildup. Don't mix acid with the bleach use one or the other to avoid a nasty reaction.

If you do use the acid do not let it sit on the windows very long or you may etch them. You can always neutralize with a alkaline soap to help prevent this.
 
A buddy of mine owns a Truck Wash here in Houston, off I-10 and Federal Highway. It's a DYI wash bays for 18 wheelers. Occasionally I go in a run the place for him if he can;t make it. He uses a product called "Clean Wall" and it works great. Not sure where he get's it, but if you need me to I'll find out.

It is painted concrete block wall, and this stuff get's all the grease and oil splatters of completely. Looks like it's just been painted after using it.
