Car wash pits

I was wondering if anyone cleaned car wash pits...

Just need some advice on cleaning them up and removing debris out of them... Time it took and applications that was entailed...

I also seen in the Delco mag that they had a sludge sucker, Has anyone used these...

This seems like it would work, But I would think that I would need to bore to the bottom of pit, then hook up the sucker to flush out sludge with fresh water, then I would shovel out debris after it was cleaned with fresh water...

Around here they use a septic pumper. You know the guys that clean septic tanks out and such. It is a lot closer to their line of work.

I get about four laborers and shovels and just start shoveling. I’m sure there’s a better way but in the end you’re going to have to use the shovel anyway. I ‘ve cleaned about 200 or 300 of these in 19 years. LOL Most of my customers do their own maintenance once a week. I suppose if you have a customer neglecting the dry well then it could get pretty nasty. My average time with 5 to 6 guys is four hours on even the largest tunnel. Providing that a garbage can is close.

I will see a customer of mine today and I will ask if they have ever had it done different.
 
Thanks Ron, When somebody told me about this I was young enough to lay a shovel in the ground for 8 hours a day... That is what I was told, to dig and dig... After much thought I had wondered why it was not done weekly?
