Car Lot Washing and Pricing. HELPPP!!!!

I did this for a while and in my case there wasnt much $$ in it. i had about 150+ cars @$1.25 and could only pay for gas and labor. it took about 7hrs to do. they were picky. but i was getting full details at an average of $100 per car/suv. in about 1.5 hrs. so do the math and weigh out all your options. it sounds easy but 20-30 cars rinse only, with no spots is some work. in my opinion its not worth the money. just my $.02 good luck

Chris yes I will be there . It will be nice to meet you . Thing are pick up down here about 5-8 calls a day all people out of down wanting prices on summer homes .

sorry - out of town

I thought Uncle Janet ran them all out? That is why she..he...it, is in charge of Homeland Security

:D

Mr Napalotano is a traitor, and has millions of dollars invested in the condos going up in Rocky Point.

Don't.........

Car dealers are closing if you can't get paid on the spot don't waste your time! Time and time again I was screwed 1000's from dealers that closed or just plain screwed me and believe me when I say even when you win in court they still don't pay!! Do something you can specialize in that 16 year old kids can't do! Just my 2€

Hey guys i just took my first car lot did it yesterday had to use the shamee and water blade and it sucked so bad. guy wants his 2nd bigger lot done. im trackin down a di system tmrw not going to work without it. i got $4 a car for initial cleaning bc they all needed brushed at this location bc of construction, doin 2x a wk at $2pc. he has about 125 cars between the 2 lots thats 500wk 3.5 hours work. anyone reccommend a spot free system di was thinkin about crspotless or spotfreeh20.com

Ionics, or GE water, sometimes Culligan. Rent the bottles. It is far cheaper for you. Sometimes they HATE renting to mobile washers, because they have been burned so badly so many times in the past.

yea was going to rent the bottles got a decent supplier 5 mins away. just need the unit. how should i go about hooking one of these up i would want to use high pressure line or i could just use the car lots water and a garden hose. the systems ive looked at just have garden hose fittings. or maybe throw another pump in abox on there for di only

Garden hose only. Don't try and run to many psi through them. They last longer that way. $2.00 a car? dam i am moving there lol. I used to be at $1.25-1.35 per car unless only a few cars then i would be at $2.00 a car. I am currently at .$75 per car :crying:

They are upstream of the pump. Garden hose in and garden hose out to the machine for DI water.

200,000 plus cars and no washed out seals yet. but di water is corrosive. Like Bhenson said bypass the burner. The 200,000 cars was with more than one pump and i never did bypass my burner but did have parts that rusted all the way through.

That is good to know about rusting out the coil, I have not heard that before.

Thanks for mentioning it.

I'm sure there is a thread on here somewhere but I haven't the time to look for it. I'm currently using softeners in our units and still getting spotting on cars so I've spoken to the local water guy to get some answers. For DI he'll give me the tank but doesn't think I'll get many gallons out of it to make things worth while so he has suggested getting the same results out of R.O. water. I'm thinking of having a 1000 gallon tank at the shop which can fill up once a day and we can high speed pump it into our trucks when going to do car lots.

My questions are:

Will RO rust things like DI does?

Spot free with RO?

RO requires a machine to make the water.......more expensive/cheaper in the long run?

Thanks

DI water is more acidic than non processed water. RO water is the same. Because of that, over time, it will cause hydrogen embrittlement in the pump heads. Really, if you are going to do this type of work, it is just a cost of doing business, the same as soap, towels, and squeegees. It doesn't happen frequently, in fact, you will probably be able to wash until the seals are shot because of wear. Then, instead of just replacing seals, you can do the brass, too. It will likely cost you an extra $75 per every 750 hours worth of work. Seems like a small investment to me.

yea im mixed with what to do for spot free got a couple options... talked to culligan here in town wich i like cause its local he can do 2 straight bed Di tanks like 4ft tall wich he said get me about 1000 gal before recharge. this might work because if i keep it in garage i can use softners and jsut fill tank with clean water before heading to lots and maybe double my clean gallon amount. 75 to rent 2 tanks and 170 for recharge thats delivered. or looking into a couple systems that promise a little more and portable. http://www.dirinse.com http://www.wetkyll.com http://www.spotfreeh20.com anyone familiar?? what about you Bryan
