Can you explain turbo nozzle?

I know what they do, own several...what I don't understand is how they clean so well. I've been taught that a rotating nozzle that rotate above 500 rpm wont clean....I know the turbo rotates at 2500+ rpms and clean well. Why is it they're so efficent...spray angle?
 
It's the impact of concentrating the whole high pressure stream in a very small area, such as would be covered by a 0° nozzle. Then the small area is kept moving for better coverage.

IMO, Ripping paint off surfaces, bark off trees, and other damage. I have had one and haven't used it in 20 years. Only time I ever used was when we were in Florida and I was prepping houses for a painter.
 
I like them for cleaning curbs.

Here's the thing. As a plumber, the warthog nozzle(second video link) is considered the creme dela creme of nozzles...none better...supposedly. And stoneage(the manufactor) says it's because of the slow rotation. It's also a 0 degree rotation but spins slow. I just think that I been misled in thinking a slow rotation is better for pure cutting ability. Btw....a warthog nozzle starts off in price at $800. So when you compare the 2 videos, why difference because I really don't know....I just know the turbo is better.
 
Well that depends on if you're removing paint from a block wall, or flushing out a 6" drain pipe. The spinning sewer nozzle has backward facing orifices (shouldn't that be orifii?) to push it through the pipe. I have rotating sewer nozzles, but none have a forward facing orifice. The fixed sewer nozzles do.

I use it to 'edge' pathways and driveways with awkward spots that the surface cleaner can't get into but which would still take a while with a fan spray.

I also use mine for cleaning asphalt shingle roofs! Hahaha :D

Great for hard surfaces with a lot of buildup. Terrible on wood or soft concrete. I use them all the time on heavy equipment and dumpster pads like Ron suggested. They are good for decal removal too.
 
Zero degree nozzle can be useful for maximum impact strike whether in a turbo or surface cleaner.

If the surface being cleaned can take the impact without damage, the next common hard hitter for the surface cleaner is .....15 degree nozzles, this may not compare or would need numerous surface strikes to match the "Kung Pow" cleaning power of ZERO.

That is a good difference between the right and left pictures Nigel, how much psi? What temp?
