Can anyone identify this surface cleaner?

That looks like a BE or Whirl A Way because of the collar around the swivel and the grease fitting, they use that split collar to raise or lower the swivel height and spray bar. Looks like about a 19" or 20" surface cleaner.

Not sure of their pricing but new probably from $399 up to maybe $599, just guessing.

The handle/gun is different, could be from a different company or limited run of that model.

These are Hammerheads we have 6 of them and work the p ss out of them. Get the ones with the grease fitting it will last you a long time and at 349.00 you can beat the price. We work them with hot water as well. we will replace the major bearing maybe once a year. Our hydrotechs burn up bearings twice a year and are very expensive. I would highly recomend these units.

I have a few classics, Big Guy, some Steel Eagles, Mosmatics and Sirocco surface cleaners and prefer them over the Hammerheads, and whirl a way units. Seems like these brand swivels last longer but that could just be me. Have not tried the Hydrotek surface cleaners but have heard that they are good like the Silver Eagle surface cleaners, just have not tried them yet.

With the Steel Eagle, you can get it with the Deublin swivel (it cost a lot more, usually about $300 or more for the surface cleaner with this swivel on it), it is probably the best swivel out there, mine is over 8.5 years old and no repairs on it yet but they do come with the cheap brass swivel (hexagon head on top) and that swivel is not as good. They offer the Talon swivel as of a couple years ago and it is a good swivel, I bought one of them to replace the cheap brass swivel that was on a Steel Eagle surface cleaner I purchased from one of the bbs members years ago and over 2 years now it is still going strong.

Is it worth the extra $100 or so to upgrade the Steel Eagle from the Talon to the Mosmatic swivel? What are the pros and cons of each as I am thinking of buying a Steel Eagle soon? Thanks.

I can tell you 90% of the surface cleaners I sell have the Mosmatic swivel. There is nothing wrong with the Talon swivel and the Deublin swivel is very dependable but I feel dollar for dollar the Mosmatic is the way to go for cost , effectiveness, and longevity. We have the 24" Steel Eagle on sale right now for $645 shipping included.

Deublin are spendy but are the best in my opinion. That picture I posted was one that was given to me by a guy who found it at a garage sale for $10. I have converted all of our surface cleaners over to them.

It has a grease fitting but quality just looks shitty. Have not had any of my guys come by to get it and test it yet.

Hey Chris. I have a Hydrotek Hydrotwister and would never ever buy another one. What a piece of crap. Flimsy outer guard, low quality swivel, very low quality spray arm etc, etc. And to replace the spray arm !!! you would think they are gold plated for the price Hydrotek gets. I dont usually bash products unless they are extremely disappointing and this is! Not sure what I will buy next time but it certainly wont be another Hydrotek.

Thanks for the info Mark.

I have seen a few hydrotek surface cleaners sold used through the different bbs's, maybe those are some of the reasons for people selling them.

I think they're ok for 5-6 gpm but anything over that I just don't think they're made for. The spray arms are 1/8" and take 1/8" nozzles. Maybe if they were a 3 arm type deal it would work better in the 8 gpm range.

Best thing out there so far for us is the Big Guy with the 4 nozzle bar running 25 degree nozzles. No racing stripes or uneven cleaning at all.
