I called BEHR and they sead no stain in bulk. I tryed local places and they say only 5 gallon drums. I would think some were sells 55 gallons!

Behr? I wouldnt use that if they gave me a 55 of it for free!!

Give a call to Mr. Peirce Fitchett of Ready Seal 410-381-8400 You can get it in 55's if you want.

Ready Seal requires almost perfect prep work, but, it is really easy to apply, and looks good. I have been using it since 1998.

What I meant by that was,

1) There can be no previous stain on the deck, since RS is penetrating. In other words, no half %#@ cleaning jobs

2) Test wood with moisture meter prior to sealing to be sure it is dry enough ( 12% moisture or below)

3) RS is very thin........so, if you intend to spray, you need good overspray protection.

I wasnt referring to meticulous sanding, or anything like that.......although that is an option if you so choose.

Hope that cleared it up for you.

Bulk stain

You can call TWP and they will sell stain in bulk, but I'm not sure if they sell it in 55 gallon drums. I have been using TWP 101 for years and it is the best product I have found on the market! I use TWP cedar tone and I have never had a customer complain.

The problem with stain in a 55 gal. drum is that it will require more attention when it is stired. I worked at a cabinet shop a long time ago that uses stain from a company called DAYCO and they sold stain in drums with a stirred built into the drum.

Just to further elaborate on what Mike stated,

No prior stain should be present when putting down readyseal. And the moisture must be 12% or less or you can get some water spots showing through the stain.

Just like Mike, I wouldn't use Behr if they gave it to me. I also wouldn't use TWP if they gave it to me. TWP is made here in St. Louis and to be honest with you, I get more jobs from customers with failed twp than any other product. TWP is a coating not a penetrating product that preserves wood. If one chooses TWP, so be it, but there is a better product out there!
