Burger King

CROMWELL - Burger King proudly proclaims that they serve their hamburgers "flame-broiled." But maybe this was carrying that idea a little too far.
Firefighters rushed to the Berlin Road restaurant at 1:20 p.m. Monday, after employees of a nearby restaurant reported seeing the wrong kind of smoke coming from an exhaust fan on the roof of the local burger kingdom.
Police said a Burger King employee climbed onto the roof and used a hand-held extinguisher in an effort to put out the fire. But when firefighters arrived, they discovered the flames had rekindled, and so they set to work ensuring the fire was out once and for all.
The town's health, sanitation and building officials arrived in short order, and spoke with the restaurant's management. Together, they decided to shut down the restaurant for the rest of the day so that the exhaust system could be cleaned, and the cause of the fire removed.
The restaurant is expected to be open again today, so that the King's loyal subjects can once again "Have it their way."

Here is a BK I looked at last year.

I documented everything and even submitted photos of all the deficiencies.

All they could say is "my other company only charges $120.00".

Another Burger King where they called for an estimate, then I show up as promised for the estimate and they told me "my other company came last night but you can give me a bid for next time".

I see they left a little caustic behind in the corner. Maybe they should have tried applying it to the entire system. You get what you pay for, $120 is about what it takes for a guy to check in with the manager and then go home.

You can just tell that it's a burger king. When I first started the world of char-broiling, I pulled soft ball size grease boogers out of all the corners. I was taken a chisle to pull the mighty grip from its happy little home.

Here is another BK from my files.

I personally added the clean sheet of cardboard next to the fan so I could at least get close to the fan without having to throw my shoes away and go barefoot the rest of the day.

Sorry guys but reading this pisses me off $120 to clean a hood. WTF how can you be such a low balling bastard. Plus they do such a ****ty job! It makes our industry less respected that it already is. Now I see why so many of my bids at 350-500 are laughed at. I'm sorry for this rant but this is a specialty profession and should be payed as so. Electricians, Plumbers, Hvac these guys charge no less than 75 -125 for showing up, not to mention there fee to come out at night. Much less getting covered from head to toe in grease dealing with chem., late nights, getting soaked, some cases crawling in ducts and scraping.

I'm not sure about LA, or Tampa, but here in my area a $120 cleaner doesn't last too long. They are usually a friend of an employee or manager that has done some pressure washing before. Their manager friend tells them it takes their current cleaner a couple of hours and they pay $250. The confident amateur pressure washer operator boasts, "I'll do it for half of that!!" After a couple of hours of cold water pressure blasting and a few gallons of KrudKutter the young grease jedi hopeful wonders off into the dark night, defeated by the simple task of cleaning grease.

I heard a statistic that every days 5 new company, or hood cleaner, enters and leaves this industry. Not specifically the same company in the same day. Usually with a $120 educational experience that they want no part of slinging grease.
