Blocking Storm Drains

I need to add one more thing. Where does our genius president look for guidance in setting standards for our country's newly acquired government auto industry?

California.

The state that almost broke the auto industry years ago with their ridiculous standards....the state the has made the entire industry build two sets of parts for cars for about 30 years to meet THEIR overkill standards.

Jim, if you're almost too smart to live there. :p

If you make me mad I'm going to sent a letter to all your neighbors telling them you have Republican tendencies.

So Tony, I take it you don't block storm drains! lol :D

Tony you are TOOOOOOOOO funny.
To address where all this money comes from, they are partly funded by the fines they issue. secondly, it is required to patrol, to make absolutely no way for a lic. cleaner or non lic to pollute the bay. The bay is getting polluted. They are trying to correct that mistake.

And you guys are paying the salaries of these inspectors with what?

I think I've found the answer for your governor that will solve your budget problems!

California could have been the greatest place in the world to live. But your politicians have destroyed it.

When I lived there in the 80's the roads were nice and it was still a decent place to live. Now, the roads look like a third world country, but yet they have the money to send some dimwit around to put meters downstream in a sewer. Ingenious.

Sorry Jim, You and I are friends, but this type of disease needs to be kept in your area and not spread to other parts of the country.

Hey Tony, California is not the only state..... Nevada at Lake Tahoe is much more restrictive then the Bay area. In fact, Lake Tahoe is environmentally the strictest area in the United States. The Bay Area is not even close to them. Yosemite National Park or any other national park, which is also Federal Land, is also much more stricter than California environmental policies.

I guess that there aren't much National Parks with lakes and plush foliage there in the desert. But I am confident, if you started to pour several thousands of gallons of non bio degradable substance into the drinking supply, even Las Vegas would stop you.

Just a thought. However, I still luv ya..... and NO I AM NOT GAY !

To be honest, storm drains are rare here anyway. Our streets are designed to carry runoff long distances. For example, in our neighborhood for me to get any runoff in a storm drain the water would have to travel 8 long blocks and make two turns. It just doesn't usually make it there before evaporating.

Still, the amounts of water we generate are so small it's like making it illegal to fly a paper airplane without an FCC license. Its dumb over regulation.

The Government is designed for the lowest common denominator. (the moron)

If any of you guys remember Navy boot camp, do you remember them telling you how to stencil your work uniforms? First you had to lay out the pants a certain way, then hold your pens a certain way, then step 3, step 4, step 5, etc. I couldn't help but wonder - HOW COULD ANYBODY DO THIS WRONG.???? But then inevitably some moron stands up at the end and has stenciled his name on the front of his pants instead of the back. He has to wear that badge of stupidity throughout the rest of bootcamp.

Oh my God! Evaporating into the air? Well thats another problem in its self! LOL LOL LOL ROTFLMAO

It's all part of my evil plan. Now I'm going to the EPA to make them require that powerwashers filter the AIR TOO!!! With MY FILTERS!! :D

Here Here I second that. Then we all can start selling filters and make some money. I am with you on that Tony LOLLOLOLOLLLOLOLOOL. I am so excited about the money we can make, I can't even type.

GO TONY !!!

TONY FOR PRESIDENT !!!

Jim, how many emmissions laws are you breaking? Yeah, the epa also governs the air quality.

Your huge monster machine does not meet the specs, I however have clean air emissions on all our equipment. We get the tested and calibrated to stay with in the California guidelines incase we ever work there. We sell this as part of our green project.

You guys keep talking about pastic bags, I want to breath. I can always filter the poluted water before i drink it. LOL

Funny you should mention that. I did check with Air Quality Control Board a few years back, concerned about that same issue.

They have implemented, as the first of January 2009, not allowing any boiler that is over 800,000 BTU into Calif. However, we and others, are grandfathered in just like a 1963 corvette which pollutes the air up to ten to fifteen times more than cars built today.

Small gas engines are also on the chopping block, especially diesels. There is a clause in the law though... "they have to be stationary". If the small engine is mobile, it dose not fall into the guidelines of the law. Same with our boilers, or any boilers that are mounted on a trailer or truck as well.

So we are protected twice by two separate laws and actually a third for competition. It was a blessing for us that we had those boilers built when we did.

I hope this clarifies your issues.

They have stopped the grandfather crap here. If it dont pass its gone.

Dont confuse motor vehicle with equipment stuff, different division.

Not to mention citys not state or county have different ord. about the clean and quiet act of 1999....

Ron, We are in the green business program and are certified as one for the last two years. We have also been asked to speak at local colleges about our green business procedures from a pressure washing view point.

They have came out to examine our boilers, took air samples, took a spec sheet and literature. Examine our office techniques, including our office with what paper we use( Recycled paper), lights( Florescent), windows had to be E3, compliant water faucets, Water heater had to have a insulation blanket, plants , insulation, storage of Bio degradable chemicals. Printers had to be energy star complaint withing 3 years of purchase.

Not allowed to have non bio degradable chemicals or use them. You need all pressure washing rigs to have a filtration unit mounted on each of your trailers in use.

Currently, we are the only Pressure Washing Company in N. California that has a cert, at least so that I am told. Did not verify as of today, but will soon.

So to answer you, not only are we complaint with Federal, State and county laws, but we are 10 to 15 years ahead of requirements according to those agencies. We are also applying for garage cleaning in Lake Tahoe. No one as of today can clean a garage with common pressure washing methods in Lake Tahoe, both Nevada side and California side as the laws stands today. We are making head way.

So when it comes to EPA and Parking Garage Cleaning, No One is more complaint to EPA environmental issues then we are. No ONE !!!

I hope that I have addressed your concerns.

Lately, I have noticed a small pile of dead birds and dying small animals near my unit when I go back to shut it off. I was very concerned about the possibility that I might not be doing my part to save the earth and may be, in fact, polluting the entire earth with my emissions. I worried that my pressure washer may actually be the entire cause of global warming, I mean Climate Change, the 911 attack, and maybe even caused the banking industry to collapse.

I don't know how Jim gets all the breaks. He doesn't have to follow any of the clean air rules because of his grandfather or something like that.

I wish my grandfather had been around to get me out of the clean water act.

LMAO!
Your too much Tony!!!:D:D

If they took air samples you would be closed right now. Your boilers are killing people. The emissions is killing our children.

The emission on Boilers with out the ventec 44 magnum is useless. I'm starting a march on Californias governors office to make manditory all PW use the ventec 44 system which i help promote. By 2011 all PW accross the nation have these install at a price tag of 4500 per unit so our children can continue to live in a clean air eviroment.

And we need to march on Sacramento and get them to implement an ENVIRONMENTAL LICENSE to PROTECT THE CONSUMER!!!

Well, back to blocking drains, any an all practice is better than none. So if you have to use your smoke bag to block a drain its better than nothing.

Any other methods here anyone use? I have used rain Coats before.

The real trick with plastic is to use a cloth if you dont have a strong plastic. Wetting the cloth and setting the plastic over it gives it strenght....

This way it will not fail..... The Epa taught me that trick back in 1976 when i was a boyscout.
