Blocking a city street.

Im sure each town is different, but what hoops do you have to jump through and what does it cost you?

It looks like we may have a skywalk to clean in the near future and Im trying to get my ducks in a row.

The majority of the cleaning isnt over the street, but part of it is. The bad part is I believe we could soft wash and rinse the part over the street in less than an hour, but since this is in the middle of downtown Id hate to just go out there and do it then get in trouble over it.

Call the local police and city or county DOT.

I bid a job last year that would have required 2 street closures.Since it was a city owner historic building they were prepared to do whatever needed at no additional cost.If there had been cost involved I would have added it to the bid.

Had to do a street closure years ago in Florida, we did it at night. Was much easier that way and didnt cost us a dime extra. Plus we didnt tick any potetial customers off for delaying there day.

Here you have to use a traffic control company. Scott may have done this more than me, I'm sure he will give you some god stuff

Yeah, that would not work here.
You need to talk to the town traffic department and see what their requirements are. They will likely ask you to come up with a traffic control plan, which is easy enough, and how you are going to barricade. Some places consider that a short term closure, and so the requirements are not early as stringent. an hour is pushing it for a short term closure. Depending on how busy the area is, you might want to just do the job at 3 am and say off the road totally.
