Yep, I'm still at it. Was out with my crew this past weekend. Did fleets. Was a freezing rain much of Sunday!

My crew leader tells any new guy "If you keep up with the Old Guy, your doin Ok!" :) I've had guys a third my age have a hard time keeping up.

I'm 63, the business that I bought out is 37, and I've been in business 22 years.

I still have the Company Car! :cool: I guess if I keep the price high enough Peg and I may have it for another 20 years!:D

Yes Russ we still have it! :cool:

Here is a picture that I took earlier this month. Covered up in the shop along with other toys! :) I put 343 miles on it last year.

I try to take a picture inventory of everything each year along with odometer and hour meter readings and stuff.

I hope I never have a claim, but the insurance industry says that it is a good idea because you never know. The camera date stamps the pictures and it really doesn't take that much time. I do the house and shops.

We have a guy here in Davenport that is about your age Dave, If I remember right, You guys were rivals when travel was affordable. I could not see doing this when I am 63, Good job.

By the way, a sting ray would have to be '60's or early 70's.

Corvettes have had a place in our hearts for a long time.

My brother had a ’57 Corvette (283 dual quads 4 speed). Peg and I took it on our Honeymoon in ’62. When my brother went into the Peace Corps in ’63 he gave it to us to sell it for him. I took Peg to the hospital in that car when she was about to deliver our 1st born in ‘63.

Several years later I wanted another Corvette and found a ’68. We had it for a few years and I took Peg to the hospital in the ’68 when she was about to deliver our 3rd kid in ‘71! That kids birthday was yesterday he is 36 years young!

In ’85 Peg wanted to have another Corvette (no more kids)! I tried to rent one so she could get it out of her system, because I really didn’t want one at that time. Couldn’t find one to rent and she still wanted to get another plastic car!

I found this one in the local newspaper. The 3 born son was 14 then. I picked him up at school and told him I wanted to go look at a car. We took it for a ride Peg was at work. We stopped at the plant where she was working and it took all of a couple seconds for her to say Buy It!

After a couple years Peg didn’t want it anymore but by then I wanted to keep it. When it goes we’ll never have another.

The little car is not near as much fun driving around by myself, as it was when the kid was still at home, but it’s still a neat little car. The most fun is going thru the 1st three gears. 4” side pipes with Glaspacs makes a very nice sound. Anybody that likes the sound of a small block Chevy will have a Big smile on his or her face driving that car.

These pictures were taken 10 years ago at a Corvette show. The bald guy on the left is Me! They were backing the car up on a mobile dyno. The other shot is the car doing 6000 rpm. Computer says it was putting 234 hp to the ground at 135 mph, 6000 rpm.

Come on' russ, even I knew that!!! But not every one is as smart as me!

Hey Dave - We got a 69 Mustang Mach 1 with a 351 Windsor V8 with a Holley Double pumper carb. Switching it out to a Cleveland this summer and dropping in a 4spd....that should be a hoot. Bought this thing new years day 2005 sittin on a flatbed all rusted out...... will post pics later - its time to take her out for a drive - suppose to be 60 degrees today :D

Dave my buddy that helps me clean and also owns his own fire equipment and hood cleaning business is 61 He goes out and works all night.. Climbs ladders, goes on roofs all that kind of stuff.. Heck I am only 40 .. I hope when I get to be in my 60's I am still going strong..anyway about two weeks ago he told me he was getting out of the hood cleaning business to try something else,, he just won't tell me what .. But he did offer me some of his accounts. He says I will give you about 30 accounts and he wants 10% .. I figure this will bring in about an extra 3000 to 4000 a month.. Not bad.. As far as hard work I am 40 and I can outwork High School Kids... I think kids now days just don't know what real work is >>>> Hey I sound Like My Dad..
 
We haven't been able to clean fleets for 6 weeks! :eek: Been to cold!

If all the Young guys show up this weekend and the weather holds out, we will run both units both days. Should hit 12 different stops, put on about 300 miles and clean about 250 pieces of equipment.

Aleve will be my friend on Monday and Tuesday! ;)

We've got a guy working who's going to be 64 this year. He runs rings around any younger guys. I also know a man who cleans hoods in Michigan and he's 71, works alone much of the time and kicks butt. He said he'll get out when he can't do it right anymore. His customers love him because he is so thorough. Age is only a number if you have your health.
