That CODY post, how do you feel about it?
To tell you the truth, I think if it were not for the venders telling how to use what they sell, there would'nt be all that much to tell here.
Pretty much chem on, chem off.
Yes there are 1000 ways to do it,but its still pretty simple.
If you put soap on it and wash it off it's going to be cleaner.
On top of that i wont have to worry about IF im going full time much longer. Things suck right now and have been getting paid for 40 working 10. Problem is i cant go washing untill the 8 a day have passed.
I am not too sure but I think I could be one of the guy's Cody is worried about. If i need to make $300 per day, im going too. If that works out to 3 cents a sq. ft then so be it.
Am i bad guy for thinking this way?
Am i the problem he is talking about?
My formula is a simple one.
Do a job. Take out the cost of materials,then 50% of that number goes back to the biz and 50% to me.
10 trucks x $35= $350 - $50 for chem = $300
50% of $300= $150 devided by 6 hrs = $25 per hour
now i just need 40 hrs of trucks.
One other thing Bigboy, how long did you wash before took a paycheck from your PW biz?
I have been washing part time for 2 years now and never seen one red cent. Got some nice equipment and a truck but still $5000 in debt.
insurance costs are killing me. 2 years in biz and
truck and biz insurance has cost me $6000 in those 2 years. $2000 per year truck $1000 per year biz.
no points,no claims,no tickets. Truck is for biz. only.
 
Bigboy, Let it go about the rules, that is in the past. I post on the Delco board and they don't act like kids. I had put all of that behind till you just had to call us " chicken shit" that was way out of line. As far as I know I can still post on Dan's board but why should subject myself to having names thrown at me. I have helped people on thr Delco board and mine & Glenn's that have never spent a penny with me. By the way Dan joined our board a few months back so aparrently he does not dwell on the past. Why do you have it in for us? Do we make you feel insecure? I hope not. Why don't you post on our board? Dan has. Act like a grown man and leave old dogs where they lay and move forward with your life, you only hurt yourself. And by the way the post on Dan's board broke no rules. The two of you were reading between the lines. Let us start tis month by you joining the cleaner network and I will start answering post on Dan's board, how about it.

...haha may as will spend your money on something,keeps you out of trouble besides did you know when you buy that wash eqt. it not worth X amount of dallors the next day,want be long your debt want be worth nothing but haveta pay for it anyway.Work smart not cheap and you want havta charge it,pay as you go.

Besides Ron every body has a day when they think after they lose a big acount they have been doing for years they cann't get nomore business.want know why,b/c when they got the account business wasn't that hard to get back a few years ago.
You seen Dan crying didn't ya,when the account said no more washy washy he thought he was a goner in this business,so will you one of these days ifen a one man crew depending on a or a few big accounts.

Look at it this way squirt,you may have to key in on one of your competitors to ever go fultime,all one man crews are in danger ifen a competitor with a few employee's needs his business,he can not compete with cheap prices unless he wants to work 24/7.

 
Its funny how a Thread can start and in the end the responses have nothing to do with the original Thread. I guess this is the way a Thread grows at times.

First off let Bygones be just that. Forget the differences and move on. Its good that both sides vented a little bit to get the hard feelings off there chests. Now its time to bury the hatchet.

As for Cody's post and what Ron(Squirt) is saying without elaborating to much because then I might as well write a book DO what works for you Ron(Squirt).

If you can be satified making $300/day then go for it. $300/day is much better then nothing!! Cody shouldn't worry about other contractors that Lowball him. He should just direct his energy towards his own company so he can move forward. He does make some valid points in his posts but I see alot of waisted energy being used in his posts also.

My motto is this: I don't care that a company like Fleetwash can charge much of nothing to clean a car and Joe Inc. can charge $3 to clean each car. I charge what I think I can get to get the job and if at times the price is high and I got the job then GREAT.
If at other times I charge a little less to get a similiar job and I had reasons to do so such as "Slow time of year" then that is GREAT to.

So if a company like Fleetwash needs to make $50,000/day and Ron/Squirt needs to make $300/day then do what works for you.

If That is not done then your company will not survive. Only you know what works for you and NOBODY I mean NOBODY on the bb or anywhere can tell you differently(OF course they will try).

THere will always be Lowballers etc. but do what works for you and don't let nobody stop you like the way Cody is getting stopped in his tracks.

Good response John. One can only have control of his business. An old friend of mine once said " you can't make a grown man do something he does not want to do" We all are only accountable for our own actions. The heat this time of year will make all of us a little short tempered. Most all of our customers are back from vacation and the phones are ringing more. If your customers will drop you for a cheaper price you don't need them anyway. You will fine ten more that will pay for the type of services you offer. Just be the best you can be and good will come to you.
 
Bigboy, If you had of signed up under your real name we would have known. Not enough information to tell who you were. I answered a post on Dan's board before you wrote your last response. Like I said we need to move foward. Let me know your address and I will send you a bag of marbles, if you like. No hard feelings.
 
John if I was your competitor I'd key in on your accounts b/c of your statement above,I have one price for fleets and one price for singles.You either come down in your price and charge everybody the same or I'd get the accounts.


Steven ifen I had joined useing my real name you'd wouldn't have known me either,I can see where useing ones real name would help in getting business though the boards OR loseing business though the boards,who knows but I'll keep my competitors guessing......no thank you,played enough marbels when young,they came with blackeyes ifen you didn't know the rules.......no hard feelings,never was....C-ya
 
I just don't get it, out of nowhere Steven attacks Bigboy unless I missed something first.

I will say this about Bigboy, I have spoken to him on the phone and by Email, he does know how to speak well, albiet that accent from the hills. He also knows how to write in simple plain English without the redneck stuff.

What the two of you have against each other I don't know and truthfully it does not belong here for all the world to see.

As far as remembering people I go back about 4 years, long enough to remember well Lance Winslow, Kevin (who used to call and Email me like the end was coming, also he bragged about the $30,000 SBA loan, if that where true where in heck did he spend the money?). I remember Rod, Lighting Clean, I recall how I used to bash people and businesses at times too.

Rick, Chris, Lorin Grable, Jim and Shirley,Ken and Debbie and a few others I can't recall right this moment, all had good things to say, all got tired of the BS and dropped off the BBS circuit.

Cody at times comes across as a good person to know and other times you wish you did not know him.

Even Ron M. has given pain to us at times and other times he comes across well spoken.

Latimat, I recall something about that too.

Has anyone tried getting some of those people back online?

As for more BBS's, if what has been said about if you're a vendor then you should have a web site means soon another will be there, Beth and Rod.

As for Steven and Glenn and this Bigboy thing, what can I say, they seem to love showing their love for each other in public.

I didn't read it that way Luckyboy,I'm glad Steven spoke up,he's learning haha,now if I can get the other chicken off the roost.

I see no harm in either of us,who knows I may stop saving my T'es and they can sale their shovels,learning comes in many different forms.

You can have my Fleet accounts which totals up to 0 accounts. I would not cut it in Fleet Cleaning because I would change my prices along the way either up or down and in the end I would probably end up like Cody as far as losing accounts.

I don't know how you guys can compete in that field with the lowballers all over the place. In Residential and in Commercial Flat work I can see ways where I can easily go up or down in price and not get effected to much by outside competition.

IF a company like Fleetwash got involved with Residential work I can see them SCREWING up royaly. As far as Commercial Flat work I can see a Company like that dominate the Commercial field. Which of course I would hate to see that happen.

The Trick with any business is to survive first then go from there. That is the reason why I responded to Ron's (Squirt) post the way I did.

Hey Bigboy is Arkansas still considered Clinton Country?? They've been hanging out in NY to long. You can have them back anytime..:)

You requested not to be sent any emails through the board when you registered. That's why you didn't get the welcome letter, as it comes via email. It is set up on default and anybody that registers gets one unless they specify, as you did, not to recieve any emails. Anyway, glad to have you as a member, and WELCOME.
Watch out as the grasshopper is low to the ground and not easily hides under blade of grass. Chicken is slow but have watchfull eye. Grasshopper make good chicken food. hehehe

A chicken that looks under blades of grass with a watchful eye is slow to realize eating grasshoppers gets him in the frying pan faster or the egg would be slow coming as it would be a whoppper...thanks for the welcome

Ron if your talking about Glen who invented the "Pitch Witch" or was a big seller of it I actually asked this same question the other day from Steve Rowlet. I don't recall getting an answer to my question.
