Are We Seeing More Like This?

I went out and gave a price the other day on a new system that had one large turbine fan vertical down 3 floors with feeder duct running to 6 hoods ranging from 8 foot to 18 ft. Needs and has access doors all over the place. It looks as if I will need 3 crews and 6 plus people to service this thing. This by the way is an office situation that feed 300 people. I told them to expect a large bill and they understood. I am lost as to why they are building these system that are so labor intensive to service. I put the blame on the AHJ’s for having signed off on these systems.

o i hear ya there, i have a few of those ones to, have to go threw the ceiling and theres panels all over the place. Such a pain. I honestly dont know what some people are thinking when installing these, but they arent cleaning them either. So...

I just sold one like that....and I told them the same thing you told them David.
Initially they built all the fans on the roof and the verticals based upon a specific floor plan - and then later the floorplans for all the kitchens inside changed.

There are about 6 different kitchens with lateral ducts running through the ceiling all over the place in every direction. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of feet of horizontal ducts running through the ceiling.
It was hard enough to inspect and bid on - much less clean it.

Matt is there tonight doing more foamer testing.

I hear ya Dave. The one we did last night was just like Chris said, hundreds of feet of lateral and access doors up the wazoo and not exactly the kind that are easy to access so I guess you could call them inaccessible access doors since they are dificult to access. I even found one in a freezer if you can beleive that. I think you did right charging more and sending more guys, this one took 6 guys 12 hours, good thing there was a King Taco near by or we wouldn't have lasted all night:D
