Are two heads better than one?

Well this is something that I had been thinking about for sometime. Would a two headed floor cleaner, spinning smaller radius arms, clean faster than a floor cleaner with longer radius arms, using the same flow and pressure?

First, I needed to build a cleaner with two heads/unions to find this out.

And the results are…….., well lets put it this way.

The Guys have were not happy tonight when one of the unions failed and they had to drag out the 30 inch Mosmatic

What unions are you using?

Looks like your large surface cleaner was doing a good job, how many gallons per minute were you using for that large surface cleaner?

What is the size of that large surface cleaner? 48" ?

I would say two heads are better than one. Just built a 50 inch surface cleaner that so far runs circles around my maxima.20140507_174520_resized.jpg20140507_124111_resized_1.jpg

Yours is bigger than mine but as the saying goes, 'it is how you use it that counts'.

I was very surprised at how much better and faster two smaller arms clean compared to a cleaner with a single larger arm.

Nice job, greg/sd

I had a feeling two arms would clean better and have been meaning to build one for a long time. when you posted yours I decided to go ahead and give it a shot. I haven't used it a lot yet but it already seems to cleans better than my maxima. its already on the truck Time will tell.20140507_175936_resized.jpg

One disadvantage with these cleaners is that they are so dam big and hard to lift in or out of trucks or trailers.

To address this issue, I have made the push handle totally removable (about 10 seconds to remove or reinstall) and put a lift handle on the front of the cleaner, so you can now carry it like a suitcase.

That is a great idea, a removable handle and a suitcase style handle to carry it, that would really take up a lot less room in a truck or trailer without the handle there.

Can you post more pics?
