Anyone Here Using Thumbtack?

I just booked a $1000 Roof and concrete cleaning job off of Thumbtack. I also generated a solid $50K worth of biz from Home Advisor last year (what Service Magic used to be called). We are lucky in that there is not heavy competition in our area so the leads we get in have a higher close percentage. One key is to make sure your profiles are really thoroughly filled out with pictures, licensing info, and lots of detail because a lot of the other responders are going to be trunk slammers and you want to differentiate yourself from them. We stress the safety and licensing factor on every response and I find it generates a lot more customer responses.

bid for about 5-10. Never got a single job/heard back from a single customer. Its not for me. Doesn't fit our business model. Think its for those who wanna choose jsut based on a $#

Just sold our first thumbtack job ever this week. We are 1 for 13. I suppose that is better than 0 for 10.

Also remember that with thumbtack, most of your emails go unread. We probably get 50% of our lead money back from unread leads. Out of 50% we close about 25 to 30 %.

Another thing I noticed in my area is that all leads get 5 return quotes during the middle of the year but only one or two return quotes early spring and fall. That tells me that 2 or 3 join up in the middle of the year and out of business by fall.
