Anyone Here Using Thumbtack?

I get leads from this site but rarely do I ever bid on them. I think I was paying over $3 for every bid. After closing 1 out of 25 leads I gave up. I think most people on there are price shopping.

I signed up for them just for the SEO/Exposure/Link Juice. I don't respond to their emails......

Yep, I'm about 3 or 4 for 30. It's kind of irritating actually. I bid on something and three days later they refund my $3, saying my quote was never viewed.

I am listed for paver sealing. I get requests for window cleaning, concrete installation, gutter cleanouts, roof cleaning. I think the closest I got (besides one actual paver sealing request that I never heard back from) was asphalt sealcoat.

Either their algorithm is screwed up or people that request my service through them are stupid and cant read. Either way i finally got them to stop emailing me.

Bump.............

I tried it out the last couple months. Put in a lot of quotes with the ole "your actual price could be higher or lower than quoted, your final price depends on seeing the actual job price"

Haven gotten a single one but did one get line for another contractor outside my area. I was determined to get one, I did, and now I think I am done. I think most of them are bogus leads anyhow.

I've done 2 jobs out of about 50 I've bid on. I spoke with both home owners and asked why they decided to go with me. The first one told me I was the only insured contractor to bid, so I won that simply based off of that. The other only received one bid other than me and the lady told me she doubted she would get a quality cleaning for $125 so she went with my bid of $410. Every other job I've bid either gets viewed and ignored, or I get a response from a home owner price shopping.

2 out of 50ish is pretty bad, no? What has kept you at it? How much is it costing you per bid?

Absolutely. It costs $3 dollars per bid roughly. I keep bidding for a couple of reasons. For starters all my bids include some form of education along with the price. For example encouraging the home owner to look into the damage high pressure can have on a roof etc if I am bidding a roof cleaning job. You can always hope they isten and look into it and decide to go with your company. The other reason is it puts my company name and contact info infront of another person. When the $125 house wash guy either doesnt show up, or does a horrible job, they know who to call.

Landed a $592 from thumbtack today, and 3 more leads in the past 48 hours I'm working on getting now.

At least with service magic the people were usually serious about getting the work done and payed attention to your profile.

I never had luck with service magic. People would never return your calls and I would still get charged $20 a lead. Ended up getting away from them.
