Anyone have a Titan Electric Reel? NEED HELP!!

Ed, are there 2 wires coming out of the motor?

Is there a solenoid being used also besides the push button switch?

I have few of the hannay hose reels, 1 has the solenoid valve, the other 2 do not.

The reason for the solenoid valve is that the factory switch is not rated for a lot of amps so the solenoid takes care of the extra amps.

If you put a larger push button switch like a car horn switch (about 40 or 60 amps), that will replace the solenoid switch I was told.

I just bought a used hannay electric hose reel where the guy took the solenoid switch off and just put a larger amp push button switch and had wires running to the battery and motor.

Hope this helps. If you need a picture, I can get you one later on today after I am done with a project.

Thanks Chris. First, I will say, that I am a jackass and its a good thing my heart beats automatically. What threw me off is that there are 2 black wires coming out of the motor. So I grounded from the battery to the black on the other side of the selenoid, not realizing that this would be hot when I press the button. It fried the 10 gauge wire instantly (like up in smoke in a flash). I figured it out but somehow I did not fry anything. I had a pinhole leak on the thread. I cut the threads but left 2 single threads, screwed the swivel on the 2 threads then welded it. This swivel better last forever!! Glad the battery didnt blow up in my face. those eye patches look pretty dumb.

I got a good laugh from this post. Not the unfortunate part but the ability to make fun of yourself in light of the situation!

Invest in the Stainless plumbing when you get the reels it is well worth the extra investment.

When that goes out Ed you can order replacment plumbing and change it out so don.t worry its not the end of that reel...
